Some forum members were unhappy when I suggested that, in reality, Swindon is in the south midlands (or central southern England) rather than the west country or the wider south west.

When ITV showed live Football League matches in the 90s they had Swindon on Central TV quite often as they were considered by them at the time to be a Midlands team. Suited me as I lived in Rugby at the time....

It was the Barry Fry channel always seemed to be on there😁 Two live games I can remember were WBA away when Andy Todd was superb and Wolves away when we were already relegated and Wayne OSullivan had a good game as a youngster

I remeber one game maybe his debut against Watford at home in a cup match and he had a mare trying to kick the ball upfield from goal kicks

I remember Nicky Hammond playing an absolute blinder away to West Ham.
The natives were so irate I got punched in the back of the head afterwards. I was only about 15 at the time.

I think we were considered in the Midlands when we were doing well, which we were then!

I never forgave him for being picked ahead of Digby - And don't even get me started on Leicester City away! :-(
