Suprised no-ones mentioned it yet, even if it's a right anti-climax.

Looks like we're staring 4-0 in the face then, Binga's just produced an awesome spell. Absolute wheels, thank fuck they didn't pick him at the Oval.

Brett Lee bowled very well, but the simple fact is putting this after the Ashes means that nobody cares, including the selectors, who have rested Anderson and Collingwood before the Series is even lost (although I'd suggesting giving Collingwood a few series' rest anyway)

I think Nemo summed it up best.  Playing the ODI series after the Ashes is like playing the Inter Toto after the FA Cup Final.  No one cares.  I certainly don't.  And evidently, neither do the players.

Bring on South Africa in November.

Part of the problem seems to be the number of players to pick from.

By my calculation there are 55 players currently, who have at some time played for England in an ODI.

This seems to lead to players playing for their place rather than for the team...hence timid batting.

It's compounded by wholly muddled selection policy....so a fella like Trott, gets picked for the T20 and test side but not the 50 overs Shrug

Someone like Ed Joyce, who's been just about the best 50 over batsmen in domestic cricket, and has taken a century off the Aussies in Convictland doesn't get a sniff, instead we get a more limited Mick.

Strauss, who's been head and shoulders the best bat, only gets a game because he's captain.

And as for teh batting power play  Angry

The power play thing is baffling, they're really doing their best to balls it up every game.

Who would you pick as an 11? It's actually quite tricky, especially with Pietersen injured, to balance a team. Although I couldn't agree more than Trott should be in.

Is it sad that the thing I'm most interested by in today's game is that Michael Vaughan is commentating on TMS?

And when I say most interested, it might well be the only thing.

We're in severe danger of winning one here: Owais Shah just bowled a wicket maiden.

I'd say the Lankies, have got 50 or so too many for our boys on that pitch.

Don't look now folks, but we just won a one day international without Strauss scoring, with an excellent contribution by the middle order and NO RUN OUTS.
