Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: Mother Brown on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 18:58:40 Rip Peter. Great player who sported a Ralph Coates comb over . . . before Ralph Coates did.
Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: Costanza on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 19:00:47 A sad day for the football club. A major name from a glorious era.
So long, Peter. Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: ronnie21 on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 19:04:52 Sad news, RIP Peter!
Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: adje on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 19:06:15 In my best ever seen STFC X1. I remember him scoring in 4 successive 1-0 wins. True Legend

Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: Summerof69 on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 19:16:19 A member of the '69 team, who are all legends.
RIP Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: chalkies_shorts on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 19:19:02 I just shrug my shoulders at most deaths but this one saddens me. Remember him coming back in the early 80s with Blackpool and getting a cracking reception. I suppose time must roll on but another of the 69 heroes gone. Would be in with a shout of being in an all time Town XI
Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: adje on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 19:26:26 Fancy Town fans having to find out from the Burnley web site. Not a thing on ours,a bit shabby in my opinion
Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: Bedford Red on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 19:36:27 Sad News, i was too young to see him play for Swindon but my Dad saw him many times.
RIP Peter Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: Quagmire on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 19:41:13 Fancy Town fans having to find out from the Burnley web site. Not a thing on ours,a bit shabby in my opinion The family may have let Burnley know and not Swindon? Don't think it's fair to have a pop at the club. Seems anyone will moan about anything at the moment.Anyway, I don't want to hijack a thread like this. RIP, legend is used to much, but he really was. Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: Anteater on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 19:44:41 RIP Peter Noble.
Sad news,. Legend indeed. Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: Arriba on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 20:27:11 I think stfc legend is justified in this fella's case. Rip
Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: BambooToTheFuture on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 22:24:06 Cracking player. My Dad saw him play a few times but not myself. They're are the kind of players that are but a memory now days.
STFC Legend :( Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: Reg Smeeton on Sunday, May 7, 2017, 01:03:13 I once went to a party at Noble's house, which was a club house in Wigmore Avenue, later sold to stave off HMRC. Lovely fella, would have been about 68.
Back then the homoginisation of accents hadn't really started... couldn't understand a word he said. As Chalkies says.... the rendition of the Noble song by the TE when he returned with Blackpool was a thing of beauty. Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: flash on Sunday, May 7, 2017, 06:52:20 Likewise I remember Peter Downsborough's reception when he returned with Bradford City in the late seventies.
Saddened to hear of Peter Noble's passing, I have very fond memories both of him playing for the Town and that glorious era. Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: RedRag on Sunday, May 7, 2017, 06:58:44 RIP to a Swindon legend who went on to prove himself in the old first division
A key component of the all conquering 69 squad. Scored and made many goals with his deft, glancing headers. Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: Peter Venkman on Sunday, May 7, 2017, 08:27:15 A genuine Town legend, RIP Peter.
Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: Ticker45 on Sunday, May 7, 2017, 12:24:37 You always knew what you were getting with Peter Noble which was 100% effort, high workrate and the ability to score goals, the sort of player that any team would be glad to have. Great memories of a legend. RIP.
Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: ReadingRed on Sunday, May 7, 2017, 15:42:34 What a player. King of the near-post header, usually from one of Rogers' crosses. I remember idolising him almost as much as Don as a kid.
Scored 27 penalties from 27 attempts at Burnley. How many players these days have a comparable record? Noble, Noble He's off to Mexico Cause Francis Lee has got VD Noble, Noble, Noble, Noble etc. RIP Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: Pax Romana on Sunday, May 7, 2017, 19:04:38 Likewise I remember Peter Downsborough's reception when he returned with Bradford City in the late seventies. Jeez that brings back memories, I can still vividly remember when Downsborough came out for the second half and started running towards us in the town end. Have I remembered it right that he only left because we wouldn't give him an extra £5 a week?Saddened to hear of Peter Noble's passing, I have very fond memories both of him playing for the Town and that glorious era. Sad news about Noble. 72 is no age. Title: Re: Peter Noble Post by: Wilf Shergold on Sunday, May 7, 2017, 20:17:26 What sad news. A genuine Town hero. Thanks for '69, Peter, you helped give a generation of Town fans one of their best footballing experiences. RIP.
