Title: Receiver advice needed.
Post by: Munichred on Thursday, January 22, 2015, 23:47:45
A friend needs a receiver to go between speakers and monitors on one side, and on the other side there will be a DVD player, an X Box, a multi media player and an ethernet drive. As she hasn't yet bought the DVD player, something that combines the player and the receiver would be ideal, she says. She has just dictated this to me, I've got little idea what all this means  ???

Any advice/recommendations in words of not more than two syllables would be very welcome!

Like anything - depends on her budget - Highly recommended at 250 is this http://www.ugotonline.co.uk/TX-SR313%252FBK.html?gclid=CjwKEAiA3IKmBRDFx-P_rLyt6QUSJACqiAN8WcdSUdQWQZqkIoWGYn1mEmVDeUq3nEp6fEenJ_6prxoCetnw_wcB

Thanks. As you say it's about her budget and that's a bit more than she wants to pay. She's looking to pay up to £120 for a receiver or £200 for combined receiver/player.

She's not going to get anything remotely decent for £120, unless she buys second hand.

Why do you need a dvd player if you have an x box?

Personally I'd grab this receiver for under £200 http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/yamaha/rxv377/yama-rxv377-blk

Assuming she has all the surround speakers.

I looked at that one before plumping for a Sony, but for the money its not bad, Richer Sounds is the place to go though.

Thanks, this sounds good  8)

The X Box she has works well as an X Box, but not very well as a DVD player.

As far as Richer Sounds is concerned, bear in mind she lives in Munich like me, but all the suggestions are appreciated!

Ironically, I bought tuefel Sub and speakers from Germany to go with my amp, they are awesome. bit of reggae, and every window in the house vibrates at mid volume. the neighbours love it at 3am Saturday..
