Title: Ratings v Donny
Post by: Elsterap on Saturday, February 4, 2006, 17:36:16
Rhys 7 - Did what he had to apart from the goal
J Smith 6 - Mostly anonymous but made a couple of good tackles
Ifil 6 - Not up to usual but mainly because other people done what he usually does.
O'Hanlon 6 - Not much to do for most of game
Nicho 6 - Same as O'Hanlon
Shakes 8 - Good runs, excellent passes, done well to get a head on the ball for goal MOTM
Brown 7 - Good runs, good passes, sometimes didnt do what he needed to
CCP 7 - Done well, came back when needed, good goal
P Smith 7 - Pretty Solid through most of game, more quiet towards end
Peacock 7 - Came back a lot to midfield to tackle, didnt always get into centre forward position for Shakes's or Brown's runs.
Cureton 7 - Played the target man and got onto some long balls from Shakes well.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Holgate 5 - Too weak to stay on the ball for too ong.  Didnt try hard enough to get the ball.  With the fairies.
Gurney 6 - Not good enough.

Overall a very entertaining game, which we dominated for most of the game.  The last 15-30minutes were quite worrying with Swindon playing far too deeply.

Rhys 7 - Not too much to do but some good claims
Smith 5 - gave the ball away too much, and allowed players goal side
Ifil 7 - Positional play a lot better and solid
O Hanlon 7 Won nearly everything but needs to improve his clearances (as usual)
Nicho 7 - Reliable again
Shakes 9 - MOTM ran for everywhere today and obviously got us a goal
Brown 8 - Like Shakes but without the goal
CCP 8 - All over the pitch and a good finish
Smith 7 - Showed an experienced head with some good passing
Peacock 7 - Battled for everything, some nice touches and good flick ons
Cureton 7 - Some very good crosses and a great flick for CCP's goal

Holgate 3 - Less said the better
Gurney 4 - definitely noticed the difference (i.e. we got shit and more overrun in the midfield when he was brought on for Comyn-Platt).

Evans 6 - Steady i s'pose, made a few half decent saves, no chance with the goal
J Smith 7 - Looked a lot more solid at the back than Jenks has been recently
Ifil 7 - Steady, distribution still dreadful, but can't fault his defensive capabilities
O'Hanlon 6 - Continues his poor recent form, weak link at the back
Nicholas 7 - Solid as per usual atm
CCP 8 - Really well taken goal. Workhorse of the side
Shakes 8 - Becoming a very dangerous player on the wing, full of running, worked hard. Nice finish for his goal :D
Brown 8 - Full of running and made a great interception late on
P Smith 7 - Didn't look out of place considering it was his first 90 minutes for 2 months
Peacock 7 - Held up ball well, good flick-ons, starting to gel with Curo
Cureton 7 - Lovely assist for the winner, linked up well with Cock

Holgate 4. Thought that was a poor choice of substitution really, should have brought on Trev
Gurney 6

> should have brought on Trev

Benjamin wasn't even on the bench!

BBC Wiltshire reported he's out for three weeks with injury earlier this afternoon.

Whoops! Still shouldn't have brought on the inexperienced Holgate at that stage of the game

o'hanlon was superb.at least a 7,won header after header.
i thought  cureton or paul smith were the pick of the players.
shakes did well but the odd poor touch.
brown and nicholas were the weakest players that started but both were ok.
gurney was acting like a twat and holgate was dire.
but generally a good day for all.

I'd probably average out at seven, with the exception of Shakes - deffo 9, although he got quite tired by the end.

Peacock deserved at least 8, he was superb today. Just the type of gritty player we need!

Evans - 6 - Nothing to do really

J.Smith - 6 - Solid(ish) certainly more solid than Jenks has been
Ifil - 6 - Not up to the high standard he has set recently, lost his position for the goal...not something he has done for a while
O'Hanlon - 6 - Strong in the air
Nicholas - 6 - Generally solid, still worried me a few times today

Shakes - 8 - Full of running, much better crosses some lovely cross field balls to Cureton. Just needs to realise when he has time on the ball and when he hasnt
P.Smith - 7 - Thought he was very good, won tackle after tackle and used the ball well, also cushioned his headers to team members, no one at Swindon ever does that. Would have got my man of the match but faded last 15. Clearly not 100% fit but for 75/80 minutes bossed midfield
CCP - 7 - Very good game, lot of hard work. Very well taken goal. Looked much better with him on the pitch than without
Brown - 6 - Good game, lots of running

Cureton - 7 - Worked his nuts off, some good touches as well
Peacock - 7 - Powerhouse!

Subs.

Gurney - 4 - All he seemed to do was foul and kick the ball in the air!!
Holgate - 3 - Just wanted that extra 2nd that he didnt have

By injured, he means he had cramp....which is understanable he has gone from not playing much football to playing 3 games in 8 days....

Is it just me or did you think Sean played fucking well? I am perhaps his biggest critic and wonder what he brings the team, but I thought he was fucking excellent today. He won absolutely everything, and had a fantastic game. Centre-Backs should really be judged on how little you notice them as it means they haven't made any mistakes, and Sean fits into that category today. Sean - 8.

Seano played well. I also think Ifil was outstanding, excluding his distribution. He lost the battle of the 'fros though.

Shakes MOTM.

P Smith would have ran him close but he tired after about 60 min.

he isn't shit when he concentrates on playing football instead of losing his head.
today he needed to steady the ship, but didn't do that.
i still think he is a good signing though

Swansea let him play -that speaks volumes.Thought he was anonymous against the jacks-but,to be fair, didn't see the Bmuff game(he was shite v Southend and Walsall though)

I've always thought Gurney was shit. He was a liability the last time he was here, and tbh I loved it when he went. I would have said in our position till the end of the season would have been ample. But seeing as he's around till 2007 I agree it's a bad signing.

Today I just had that bad feeling we'd start to fuck up/decline when he came on.
