Title: Laptop DVD Drive Problems Post by: Nomoreheroes on Friday, August 13, 2010, 19:51:39 Right, I'm using an Acer Aspire3680 that came with Vista. Unfortunatley the laptop was not man enough to cope with it. I couldn't get it to work properly at all, so in the end I decided to put XP on instead. Not being a techie type, I didn't bother to make notes of drivers etc and therefore had hours and hours of fun trying to get everything to work again. I eventually did it though, but now, 6 months later, have discovered that there remains a problem with the DVD drive. It won't play any DVD or CD and you can't write CDs nor DVDs. Furthermore, you can't install software from the the drive and you can't play any game.
Once you put the disc in, it spins and gives you the feeling that its going to work and then just stops. Dear TEF. how can I fix it? Title: Re: Laptop DVD Drive Problems Post by: stfcinbmth on Friday, August 13, 2010, 20:02:53 Would try downloading and installing Everest from here
http://majorgeeks.com/download4181.html Once installed it will tell you the make and model of your dvd drive and you can then search for relevent drivers Does Start-Control Panel-System-Device Manager show up with a yellow triangle on the device? Title: Re: Laptop DVD Drive Problems Post by: Nomoreheroes on Friday, August 13, 2010, 20:21:08 No yellow triangles
