Saw Brian Wilson live a few years ago and there were a couple of moments when the sheer beauty of the sound coming from the stage was overwhelming and i realised  I was crying. Music is everything sometimes

This is one of, if not the, best song Noel Gallagher has wrote for me. It’s not as well known as some of the other stuff but I suggest you all take 5 minutes and listen to it. It’s simple and absolutely stunning.

Was seriously welling up watching this, only this week !

Unorthodox on Netflix, tale of an orthodox jew after escaping the chains of her hacidic community in NYC, running away and singing at an audition in Berlin. With her husband watching on, after tracking her down. Very powerful story and superb performance from the Israeli actress, who's own grandfather had survived Aushwitz, just added to it.

Yeah for a long time this song did the same to me, all because of Live Aid.

I love music that stirs the emotions. My favourite artist is Tom Mcrae and a lot of his songs are on the, well less happy side. Here are a couple that always bring a lump to the throat.

My Dad's funeral song. He's not dead yet, we're just under strict instructions that this will be his song. He was a little bit miffed when his older brother used it for his own funeral last year...

That bullshit dance version kinda spoils it now.

Great music, Legget.  After the death of a close relative, I had a DVD made with all the family members and close relatives family trees included on the DVD.  A lot of us were getting quite old, and this was like a final get-together of the survivors, young and old.  This music provided a continuous backing track.

The only other song I can think of that brought a tear to my eye was Bob Dylan - Hurricane, but I was absolutely counted at the time.

That Johnny Cash cover of Hurt is a pretty damn good cover and it certainly moves me. You can tell the song means so much to Cash personally. I'm certain he wished he'd written it.

There are tons that contend, like Coldplay's Fix You, say what you like about them but this came on the radio just as we we're pulling away to join my Aunt's funeral cortege; of course we were all in tears and it was more poignant because we'd lost her far far too soon.

One though sticks out for me. Had recently split with my first serious girlfriend, one might say first love. I was at Glastonbury to "shake it off", Radiohead had just played a secret gig on The Park followed by Stornoway. All was good, life was good. Was buzzing. What girlfriend!?

Biffy Clyro came on and Many of Horror followed Mountains (IIRC) then about halfway through Bubbles, it hit me...an uncontrollable flood of tears. Some kind person asked if I was ok to which I blubbed "I've recently split with my Mrs"...they pulled me up off the ground and goes "come on mate!" and I duly joined a bunch of strangers in belting out the last verse; dried snot, the lot.

That's part of the reason festivals are bloody awesome...just found this and it took me straight back to that moment.

I was watching a re-run of celebrity pointless the other day and at the end they had Ralph McTell play out to The Streets of London, that always gives a tear.

If that was 2003 then I was there.
As great as some of REM's songs are, Stipe's voice live has something to be desired. Better to listen to the studio stuff.

Not out and out sad, but melancholy and I cried when finally saw them and they played it.

You spend the first five years trying to get with the plan, and the next five years trying to be with your friends again

One of the saddest songs I know, with one of the great understated guitar solos. Have played the album to death since 1974.
Particularly appropriate in these times of loneliness and lockdown

Some might not be aware, your earlier Led Zep tribute had Bonzo's lad playing the drums.

Indeed, and the bowler-hatted choir added poignancy to the occasion

Dunkirk - Variation 15 by Benjamin Wallfisch, original by Elgar.

And for old times sake Nothing Compares To You by Sinead O’Conner, ignoring all her shit and politics.

I feel like this needs a movie version..  Mostly because around the age of 40 I turned into a blubbering wreck watching emotional films.  No idea how, I have no sympathy in general.  Blackfish fucked me up though.
