Right, first off, due to geographical and family reasons, I don't get to many games.  My old man still goes to every home game and I get a lot of my knowledge from him.  He is extremely positive about how we are playing this season - the best team we've had for a fair while apparently.

What has struck me from afar is that for the past few months, we have been fairly lucky on the injury front.  We don't seem to have had to make too many team changes over the past few months.  Sheehan has obviously been unlucky, but:

Lucas, Manky, Cuthbert, Greer, Lesc, McG, Douglas, Ferry, Ward, Austin, Paynter

is a very settled line-up that has not had to be changed much - this hasn't been the case for us as a club much over the past few years, this must be a factor in our success this season.

Am I right at all, or just talking bollocks?

Indeed, we were saying that yesterday, last 15 games it's been more or less the same side, and they are all familiar with what they have to do. No coincidence.

i think you are right.
our first 11 are a match for anyone in the division and is why we are doing so well.some of those on the fringes not so imo.

If we were to lose 3 players for a match through injuries and suspesions we'd look a lot weaker.

And as you say, there must be benefits to having a fairly consistent starting XI

We've got 9 players that have made 25 or more league appearances this season which is pretty incredible. Its also pretty incredible we've got a first team that pretty much everyone is happy with and we don't have the continual Huh?? is fucking shit and needs to be replaced which we had last season.

It is kind of on a knife edge though as we don't have much decent cover for injuries and suspensions - Pericard and Morrison are probably the only ones that could go straight in to the first team without worry. Though I guess if the worst did happen, Wilson would be on the phone pretty sharpish to get cover in.
