We might finish higher than we did in 83/4, but that’s more a factor of the league being more spread out. I can’t see us beating the points total

Worst season ever, bar some re-election bids in the 50s

The worst since the fourth division was created is on the cards, as you say we finished bottom of Div 3 South & had to apply for re-election a few times.

We need another Macari type renaissance

Looking at those re-election votes, we were never even close to being relegated. Back on board with this being the worst season ever 😎

Some players in that 1983/4 team who are very fondly remembered by those who watched them play... why were we so bad then?

That would be impressive considering we’re on track for our second, potentially worst, ever finish

‘On track’ but not there yet. Though and I’m being careful, even if we do end up in the. Worse league position ever. The quality of football, shit as it may seem is certainly better than it was back then so count your blessings.

You do realise that to apply for re-election means you are in the relegation spots.
One of the two in the 50’s we finished bottom, the other season 23rd.

The irony was we finished in the top half of the last season of Div 3 South for the first time in several years so got into Division 3 instead of Div 4

Yeah I get that, but the margin of the vote was so big and the process so corrupted (I assume) that I doubt we were ever in any real threat of being relegated

Havent read back.

Well IMO we werent shit.

knocked the ball around ok without causing much trouble for Tranmere. Shit defensive lapse costs us again. Toothless up front.

Johnny a highlight.

A dead rubber but we probably deserved a point from it.

A bit meh...i dunno where the next point is coming from...

I see, it’s true that hardly any teams ever got relegated that way (same as from Div 4).
Teams were wary of voting for others, as it could come back & bite you if it happened to you.

Why don’t we just go back to basics and play 4-4-2? A system where everyone knows where to play…

Brynn
Hutton Brewitt FBT tomlinson
Shade Khan McEachran Williams
RHM austin

^ they should be good enough to win some league games. Everything is far too over complicated

I wondered the same but that formation seems out of fashion these days.

Could easily be that the players aren’t understanding the tactics Morris puts forward… on top of it changing so much. Whenever I’ve played football and in a bad spell, always been taught stick to the basics and do the easy stuff right first
