speed first choice, Money second if speed's compo is too high...

Speed is an odd one. A high risk appointment. My worry would be that he gets thrown in a relegation battle with no managerial experience. Sink or swim I  guess. Unless an older head came in along side of course.

For those who read this later when they delete it:

Sheena Easton was appointed Swindon manager, with former player Stefani Miglioranzi as assistant. She originally hired ex-manager Andy King as assistant, but he swiftly left after finding out there was a smoking ban inside football stadiums.

The top of the Wiki page explains the reasoning for AK's sudden departure.

I see.... its like a soap opera on Wiki today.

I thought there might have been a ban on endlessly mentioning 'Barbara' during annoying post-match interviews...

Speed is simply a stab in the dark. A name. He seems to have done his courses, learned from others and be quite highly rated but so did David Platt and he was a disaster at Samp and Forest. Would Speed just start buying players that he once played with and remembered them being okay - just like Platt or does he really know his way around the leagues?

I can't believe that Sheena has kept on Adi Williams though.

If Speed actually played he'd be a bit good.

Maurice Malpas is being appointed defensive coach in a minute. Don't worry.

Money would be a safe appointment, but then Hoddle was also a risk...

Hoddle was a risk but he was also a god to many fans, players and investors. Speed is solid professional whose longevity has given him notoriety. I thought the way Fitton was talking early on we were very much going to play it safe.

I think this thread should now be called "Gary".

I think the delay can only mean we're trying to get Speed, with Money out backup plan. Either or will be good IMO.

I think this thread is far more feminine than that...

Keeps changing its mind, going on and on and on etc.

How about Sheena?

Not sure if this has been mentioned from the beeb.

Swindon Town look set to appoint their new manager before Christmas.

BBC Swindon reports that the Robins' board know who they want to replace former manager Maurice Malpas.

But the appointment is being held up while Swindon negotiate their target's release from his current club before formally offering him the job.

Swindon are believed to have missed out on one target, understood to be Gary Speed, because Sheffield United asked for a six-figure compensation fee.

The League Two side have been without a manager since parting company with Malpas over a month ago.

That's not very nice.
