How's about Morris Owen though for heading ability? Too young (!) to see him as a striker, but he was a classic centre half in those days (v early '60s) - bald headed, hard as nails, took no prisoners.
Maurice , was a Chindit during the war, so fought in the Burmese jungle against the Honda owners...so it was probably dishonourable to be taken prisoner..
However, he was a proper role model and gentleman in every way...
Of players of recentish vintage, who could come close to the likes of Maurice, Pat Terry, Noble and OST in aerial ability I'd offer Tommy Mooney.
He's kind of entered STFC demonology, but did give us a season of proper footballer, which will do for me
