i'm sure there used to be.
I've got a persistent dry cough that seems to come from deep in my lungs. It started about 4 years ago after I had a really bad cold/flu.I also struggle to breathe and and get really quite wheezy. It only happens in the winter when its cold and seems worse when its wet.It also gets worse if i hoover under my bed or turn my mattress so dust may be a factor.Smoking actually seems to stop the symptoms but i'm pretty much a non smoker these days.
I've been to the Doctor every year with the same symptoms but I see a different doc every time i go and never seem to get to the bottom of the symptoms and as soon as Spring hits I'm fine again.
So any ideas?

If you have damp wood (oo-er) in the house then it sounds like it could be wood mold spores getting in your lungs.
I used to get something similar (non-smoker though) around the onset of autumn, played havoc with my asthma. It coincided with me getting wood (oo-er) stockpiled in the house for my log burner, I now keep all my wood out in the shed and its cleared up.
Not sure if this helps?!!?

I got diagnosed with asthma 2 years ago aged 43, its much worse in the cold and damp and dust and damp spores aggrivate it hugely, I have a cough first thing in the morning for half an hour and dont get breathless with it at all really. Otherwise there are no symptoms. Oh and I have never smoked.

I have asthma....for me it is worse in the winter because of the damp....but Asthma and Exzma is stress related also so with Christmas and its stresses and the lack of warm weather make it that the symptons for me are more an issue in winter. And i wasn't diagnosed with Asthma till my late thirties so it can strike at any age.....also it could be a simple allergy that just needs to get sorted.

Our place is fucking rotten for mould due to it being water tight and shit ventilation, which means we need to have windows open most days to clear the condensation.
The better half has mild asthma and we found the condensation was making it much worse over winter due to the windows never getting opened. Mainly as it was/is fucking freezing.
Anyway, blitz the mould to start with the Mould & Mildew remover in a green spray is the best one we found. Can’t remember the name but its in most supermarkets and is far better than anything else.
Keep the old windows open to air the place out a bit and if the mould comes back you may need to blitz the wall and take off any paper and or paint to get to the source.
Love

a dehumidifier would help a condensation problem too.

Aye, good call we bought one from B&Q and the amount of water that it produced in the first week was amazing. Fucker on the trickery bills but useful to clear the air so to speak every now and again.

You can also by non electrical moisture traps from diy stores. Really work best in small confined areas but the packaging will tell you how many you would need in each room. You have to refill the crystals regularly. It is also a good idea to wash the walls down with an anti mold/fungicidal solution. Or you can get anti bacterial paint to coat the walls with.
The mold and the damp will work together to cause irritation in your chest but I'd ask for a second opinion with a specialist.

It could be asthma. My old man got asthma when he was 50 years old and it seems to only affect him in the winter.
