Title: New signings do jack shit
Post by: adje on Wednesday, August 24, 2005, 15:31:54
What a disappointment after 5 games.Jack Smith looks like another "chuck him in anywhere"type-Like Dukey but not as good.Thorpe (whose signing I never was excited about)has proved to be both useless and moody.Cureton whose talent seems to have clearly deserted him has looked out of sorts. The biggest disappointment for me has been Whalley-I was really thrilled by the prospect of him spraying passes and dominating games in the way that Moncur did for us but so far nothing. He's been completely anonymous in the 3 games Ive seen. The only plus is Ricky Shakes who has undoubtedly been our best signing and should now be starting every game.I only hope that they WILL come good but class players settle in quickly as a rule(i.e Parkin,O'Hanlon)

Quite agree with you there.

Cureton and Thorpe are big time charlie's who think their too good for this club.

Comyn-Platt had some good spells last night.

Shakes i am impressed with.

Smith is average.

Whalley is too much like Migz, we need a ball winner.

I wasn't impressed with Heath one bit.

Heaton looked good and the scoreline didn't reflect his performance.

Agree with Ralphy. Comyn-Platt looks a good addition. Lets hope King plays him and gets a run in the first team.

I've been impressed with Smith, much better than Duke or Nicholas. Shakes seems good, Whalley has shown potential but remember he's been ill. Nicolau seems ok, shame some of the final balls haven't been better.

Whalley is a good player, and shows it in spells....sadly I feel its the player around him not making runs or giving him options.

Whalley has a great eye for a pass, but is he unfit or just very, very slow?

I think Cureton and Whalley will both come good.

Our best two players by christmas I rekon.

Whalleys passing has been a serious disapointment so far

He (Whalley) was the best player on the pitch apart from Fallon at Blackpool, he'll come good, trust me.

Cureton needs to find form soon, get a shot in ffs!

Thorpe should be loaned out - he needs a kick up the arse in my opinion.

Smith and Collins - jury still out.  Heath will be OK I think once he's found his feet.  Heaton seemed OK.

Shakes must play, end of.

Charlie C-p looked to have potential.

I couldn't agree more if I changed my username to "BRING BACK BUZZER", tattooed his name all over my body and periodically flashed up messages signalling my love for Summerbee on the scoreboard throughout game.

Whalley and Cureton will both come good, Whalley's lacking fitness and he's looked alright in my opinion. Cureton just needs confidence.

Did Heath do that against Blackpool? Did Shakes do that against Wycombe? Have we had any decent set piece deliveries since the Forest game?

I agree but it wasn't as if he was belting in the crosses, he kept cutting inside.

I'd much rather see shakes on the right than buzzer.

I remember sumerbees set pieces being sheeeeeeeite against forest ............

Rose Tinted glasses Sonic.

From your reaction ever since he signed you'd have given him a standing ovation for taking a shit in the centre circle :|

That would depend on the amount of flair he showed whilst crimping one off.

You have to remember that Summerbee is proven quality at this level, his assists at Bradford speak for themself...we KNOW he can play this level, we KNOW he can still cross a ball better than most players

The large majority of the others are unknowns

But of course he had not played so he was always going to look a bit off pace.  I am sure he could have done a job given a proper pre-season and stuff.

That may have been due to lack of fitness though in Buzzers defence.  Wasn't overly impressed by the former great man though.

But....didnt look shit last season for Bradford, they finished above us.

Windarse scored loads of goals and Buzzer had loads of assists to his name, that was only last season...

I doubt he has lost alot of talent over the summer, infact none I expect...fitness of course but would have been a worthwhile addition to the squad

smith has been good so far, a much stronger full-back than duke thats for sure!

shakes has been brilliant in bits, but does tend to cut inside too often like someone else said. if he can get to the by-line & whip some balls for rory we would be lauging. he seems to have more effect on the game coming off the bench aswell.

as for the others, cureton will get better once he's scored a few & got some confidence back. thorpe can fuck off as far as i'm concerned, & the rest have all done ok without being spectacular. remember its still only the first month of the season - we will have better judgement nearer christmas when the games are coming thick & fast, and we will probably have 5/6 players out injured.
