I think he meant 'to represent an international side at the World Cup', as we've certainly had more international players than that.

If you're a journo, and can't get a most basic thing correct, then it renders your viewpoint worthless in my opinion.

I took it as playing for their country during their time as a Swindon player. Otherwise you could throw Ardiles, Hoddle and a few more in there as well.
