You can pick up a nexus 7 16gb for 110 quid at argos now. I managed to get the 32gb version for 130 quid but it appears I got the last one anywhere close to Swindon

I heard the nexus 7 doesn't have a sd card slot? The 16gb hudl has one and I've put a 32gb transcend card in it, cost £8. I can now dump a load of films on it and watch them using the android version of vlc player which works fine.

Quite correct. You can use a USB on the go adapter if you wished to expand the storage space, not the tidiest solution but it works http://www.ebuyer.com/656987-32gb-kingston-microduo-usb-3-0-otg-usb-flash-drive-dtduo3-32gbI tend to stream films and use spotify so storage isn't a factor to me. I prefered the screen on the Nexus 7 and assurance that the updates to the OS will get pushed out straight away but the Hudl 2 is a very good tablet and more than equal in terms of all round spec.

I'm thinking of changing my old Motorola Xoom for something newer (and smaller).
The Xoom's been brilliant for years but the hardware's now quite outdated. Considering it came with Android Honeycomb as stock it's done well to make it all the way to KitKat with a bit of tinkering.

Resurrecting an old thread, I got the Hudl2 and its been fantastic. Problem is now I want another tablet but Tescos have stopped selling the hudl.
Whats the best equivalent around now? Is it still the nexus?

Thanks Darlo, but it looks like the Kindle uses Amazon's own app store rather than the Google play store?
I've gone for the Nvidea, reading about it being the best alternative to the Hudl, although more expensive.
Shame about Tesco stopping the Hudl2, I was hoping for a Hudl3. It's the ZX Spectrum of android tablets.
