I love my misses to bits, but she can be a fucking nightmare when she's had too much booze. She's a bit Jekyll and Hyde where booze is concerned.
Anyway... this is perhaps relevant to Jimmy's predicament. Your's truly can be a cunning chap at times. Whenever Lady Flashheart show signs that she is about to go on a wobbly because of the booze it might seem obvious that one should stop her from boozing. Thinking outside of the box, however, I realised that what she really needed was MORE booze. That way, by the time we get home she's ready to crash.
So what you need, Mr Glass, is MORE dog. Go over the top with enthusiasm about a St. Bernard or something.
It may be a risky strategy, but it's surely less risky than the divorce strategy?

Flashheart's onto something. Maybe say that you love dogs so much, that you're thinking about giving up work so you can turn you home into a dogs home and take on every dog the homes are struggling to rid themselves of.
Mention you think you current home might reach capacity at about 40 dogs and perhaps she could have a think about where she'd like to move to to help with space for your new penniless vocation.
