Hi techy townies.

My GF has tried to boot up her laptop, which she purchased not that long ago and was working before. She submitted an essay on Nov 7th and it was working ok.

Now when she has booted it up she gets a blue screen saying 'your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart samsung laptop' Then it doesn't do anything.

Its a Samsung 535u3c if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Thats an I/O error so it sounds like its either the DVD drive or more likely a hard disk error, run a scandisk on it if you can get into it, sounds like a faulty drive though.

Thanks JJ.

What is I/O out of interest?

Input - output mate, whatever goes in and out of the hard drive/cd or dvd, occassionally it can mean the throughput between the motherboard and memory but more likely ts disk drives/

I don't think it actually has a cd/dvd drive, from memory she had to buy a seperate one, which apparently is not currently attached.

Just make sure there aren't any external USB devices (memory sticks/etc) attach when she boots. Sounds more serious but just to eliminate external factors...

try re-installing windows? I had to do re build my win8 laptop within a week, but it was my own fault, I was trying to be clever and failed.

Have you tried booting to last known good config? or safe mode? win 8 has very good recovery functions.
