I got that wrong. A win and we'll be 1 point off 2nd

With top still to play, so promotion would be in our own hands Smiley

From what I can gather, other teams around us aren't playing well in general either (Dunno about Donny)

If we can manage to win on tuesday, then i'd hope the confidence would go through the roof. Couple that with some hopefully new decent loans and I think we'll do it. If we lose, it's still all to play for, but psychologically wouldn't be so great.

a lot of talk about how far off second we are but very little about how far off seventh/tenth. this board is more optimistic than i'd realised.

At this stage of the season, it's about grinding out results..often the margins are fine, a dodgy pen here, a 90th winner there. There's probably a few on here who can recall the 68/69 season when in Feb/March we won 4 home games on the spin 1-0 on mud heaps, with late or lateish goals in 3 of the 4 from Peter Noble.

Yep can remember these Reg. I can remember one night game when I thought we would never score against Barrow, their goalkeeper was Fred Else the ex Blackburn keeper who had a stunner.

The season before...at the time it was considered the finest display by a visiting custodian at the CG in living memory.

If just looked at the table after today's results. In about two weeks time we could be top or we could be tenth!!!

That's why tues is mahooooosive. Win and we still have game in hand over the chasing pack, with two very winnable home games to follow (yes, I know we've being saying that for the last 4 home games). Sheff Utd have Brentford next week aswell.

A bit of as similarity in how we were I guess but the difference is that Swindon as a club were more open and honest with the fans about the financial problems than they seem to be.

Haha, Bollocks. If it wasn't for chris wise and morshead digging, we wouldn't have known half as much as we do. And then they got bollocked for it

The table is mental:

Code:

Pl Pts
1 Doncaster 38 69
2 Brentford 38 67
3 Sheff Utd 37 65
4 Bournemth 39 64
5 Swindon 37 63
6 Yeovil 37 63
7 Tranmere 39 63
8 Coventry 39 60
9 Walsall 39 60
10 Leyton Or 39 60

The bottom of league 2 is pretty interesting aswell
19       York City          39    8    17    14    41    56    -15    41
20       Torquay United    38    9    13    16    42    50    -8    40
21       Plymouth Argyle    38    9    13    16    39    49    -10    40
22       Barnet FC      38    10    10    18    41    52    -11    40
23       Aldershot Town    39    9    13    17    35    50    -15    40
24        Accrington Stan    38    10    10    18    39    60    -21    40

We're only 3 points off the chasing pack.. We should be looking down as well as up.

Another one of these. Shit innit. Today's main focus then is on whether we drop from top 6...with Tranmere at Doncaster should avoid it.
