I always liked the original playoff when teams from the lower league and 1 from the higher league were involved. Two up plus the next 4 playing each other for the right to play 3rd from bottom at a Prem ground equidistant from the two sounds good to me (as long as we aren’t involved!) |

Have no wish to be there anytime soon, but considering that the vast majority of the NL clubs are now fully pro, with a fair few of the NLS/N teams heading that way as well, the whole system probably needs an overhaul as not sure what the distinction between league and non-league really boils down to these days.
Perhaps after the big PL teams eventually feck off the whole system can be recalibrated.

I prefer the National League format, rewards the teams finishing higher up and more spots available thus making the end of season better. I'd have relegation play-offs too in my imaginary sports league, mid table obscurity no more. |
