I did and got Venus Williams Early bird and all that. Camera Operators were in fine form. Now do I wait for the Ladies Doubles later... Spanish, Georgina Garcia Perez (not bad at all) & Hungarian, Fanny Stollar (fucking jebus!)

Is it the done thing nowadays not to bother with christenings? My grandson is 16 months and dad has no intention of having one.

My Graddaughter had her christening 2 weeks ago aged 5 months but that was only because my sons partners mum is a staunch catlick so it was expected of her, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered.

I find christening’s bloody boring. A friend of mine didn’t get married in a church because they aren’t religious, but are having their baby christened which I find hypocritical.

we did a naming ceremony for ours. our eldest was indeed boring too, sounded better in theory than practice.
youngest we did it at the Hawk Conservancy. which was ace.
nice to get family and friends together, they can decide on religion later in life

Fantastic (and obvious) approach. I wish more people were like this.

What sort of maniac christens a child? I find the practice completely abhorrent.

In all seriousness...i think its just the way it is these days. Neither of my 2 were christened. We had a naming ceremony for both where we announced the god parents and that was that really.

A friend of mine didn’t get married in a church because they aren’t religious, but are having their baby christened which I find hypocritical.
Mainly to get them into certain schools I suspect, we have friends who bang on incessantly about their atheism (bizarrely we also have friends who are practicing Catholics, but the only time religion ever comes up is with those who like to witter on about it being nonsense!) and they made a big deal about having non religious weddings etc, but when the kiddies came along they have been christened as the best local school where they live is the C of E one. Our little one was christened as my wifes family are quite catholic, however we were married out of church as I am if anything agnostic, but she will make her mind up when she is older one way or the other, doesn't seem to have affected others as my most vociferous atheist friends were all christened yet they seemed capable of making their own decisions, yet apparently don't trust their kids to be able to do likewise. I would have been christened but as a bastard the church wouldn't christen me.
