I've a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ with 4GB RAM, built it about 18 months ago. I get the parts through work for fuck all so I upgrade pretty much when I want to, use my lappy more than the desktop now which is Sony Vaio Intel Core Duo 2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83ghz and 2GB RAM, 100GB HD

See all the geeks have dual core.

I might try and overclock mine further after the exams. Should be able to do it with my new heatsink.

I've never tried overclocking, tend to just keep it simple...

Fuck you, I'm a geek and I've only got one core. and it's more of an apple core.

I still beat you all at unreal tournament though and that's what matters.

It's easy to do and gives a performance increase. Just have to watch the heat, but the core 2 duos are fairly safe.

Good to save yourself some dosh for other components

What do you reckon Si, 500W?

Can you remember that heatsink you suggested as well?

I've got an Apple Mac G4. Any more information would confuse me.

Big Brothers on now so I'll leave you geeks to HDDD/iRHP/VD and the like.

Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 (make sure you get the intel one). Good reviews all the pc mags, pleased with the performance and runs quiet.

I've got a 550w psu and run 2 gfx cards, 2 dvd drives, 2 hard disks, wireless adapter, tv card and shit loads of fans with that. Got a power meter and has never been stressed near the limit.

Unless you're going to upgrade to the new geforce models it'll be more than enough power.

500w should be fine then. All I use the PC for is internet, football manager and watching films sometimes.

Where did you buy the heatsink from Si?
