A while ago I thought that a sticky was going to be put in place to show recommended apps? As an Android smartphone noob I could do with some help.

4Shared, set up an account etc and it allows you to search and download paid for Apps for free. You will also need a file manager installed

Hmmmmm. Not what I meant really.

My first problem is I don't really know what apps can do. I therefore dont know what to look for - I know I don't want to play games. I was hoping to get some recommendations here.

So, I started by creating a Google account. I had a look around Google Play and read a few on line Top 100 apps reviews.

I decided I wanted let me check prices by scanning bar codes. The one that seems to be recommended is ShopSavvy. However, when I install it on my phone and test it against some Shredded Wheat, it gives me prices in dollars. It cant find any local stores and won't let me put in a UK postcode. I then installed an Amazon mobile app. That too shows everything in dollars. I checked my Google account, which shows me in the UK. So, I figure I must be doing something wrong?

It would appear that most people I have spoken to in the past have a price scanning app, but I don't know which one? Can the wise and the wonderful of the TEF help ?

***Now Sorted the Amazon problem. Setting allowed me to change country *****

If you want to check prices then use Google Shopper:

Just put that on the phone. Couldn't recognise my shredded Wheat nor 4 pints of milk.

Google Maps is a decent free sat nav.

I've got network tools, piano and guitar tuning apps, language apps, a remote control for my laptop. All sorts. What do you want to be abe to do?
