Shit thats awful news he used to sell my mums insurance back in the late 70's and early 80's lovely man. RIP to a true Swindon legend, a title bandied around far too easily these days. Remembered more in football for this though.

Sad news, bloody Alzheimer’s seems to be getting ever more common.
Rather embarrassing that both Wolves and Coventry have it as main stories on their club sites and we have nowt.... (although I suspect they have considerably more people working in PR/media than we do.)

Swindon Town's recent trait of being slow to react to these sort of events are always quite disappointing.
Ernie Hunt is one of the big names within our history.
So long, Ernie.

I suspect this to be true as you suggest, would be nice for the club to acknowledge his passing at least though.

I enjoyed playing against Ernie in schools and youth football, as we were about the same age. A really nice guy, and I have good memories of watching him playing for the Town later.

Was in the team when I started going to the County Ground and quickly became a hero. Many happy memories of watching him play.
RIP “Ernie”. Thanks for those memories.

RIP Ernie, too young to have seen him play, but my Dad has some good memories of watching him. A couple of links if anyone is interested http://www.ccfpa.co.uk/?p=33297A nice write up about him, and a longer video about the donkey kick, and Ernie at Wembley in 1987 trying to re-create it. http://www.rodbournehistory.org/?author=0&paged=40Some interesting pictures of Ernie, including a couple with Davy Jones of the Monkees PS Met him once in the Club Shop in 2004 when he was selling his "Joker In The Pack" Autobiography (along with other ex Swindon players, Arnold Darcy, Bobby Woodruffe, Keith Morgan and others who where there supporting him); had a nice chat with him, very sociable.

Also some more of him in this film scoring a couple too at the end, a good watch if you haven't seen it.
