Title: Largely pointless stat.... Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, 16:39:39 ....this season, we ended with 3 joint highest scorers of League goals for the first time.....further the totals of 8 for N'Guessan , Ranger and Mighty Michael Smith, are the joint lowest individual totals for a season in our FL history.
8, matches Peter Eastoe in the truly dire season of 73/74 and Guilliano Grazioli, in the not great season of 01/02. There have been 3 other seasons when the leading scorer has not managed 10, 9 being the total of the top marksman. Namely 50/51 Maurice Owen. 58/59 Bob Edwards. 00/01 Danny Invincibile. Even further....Mighty Mike, is almost certainly the only player in STFC history to finish leading scorer, not having played in a fixture before the first year of the given season. And Im sure this must have been mentioned last night, but Liverpool have just set a new record of 148 goals in their PL games this season. The PL record was 147 in Swindon games in 1993-94.
I saw a lot of goals that season, just not very many in the right end. Title: Re: Largely pointless stat.... Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, 16:48:33 Nice. Smith's total of course included a few pens making this stat also somewhat pointless Title: Re: Largely pointless stat....
