He said: “The performance was for the manager definitely.

“Everyone knew before the game we had to produce a performance.

“It’s not nice seeing the pressure he’s under and the stick he’s getting.

“Of course we’re behind him. He brought me here and has been brilliant for me.

“Fans say is it that the players don’t want to play for the manager?

“That’s rubbish, just rubbish.

“You couldn’t wish to have a better manager to play for. The fans might question some of the things he does but as manager for players he is different class

Completely blows any of the "players don't want to play for him" bollocks out of the water. Even Smith was saying the same on Saturday. I hope anyone who didn't think the players were behind him has realised how wrong they were.

In all fairness it's results which matter not what Matt Heywood thinks

Ben, I don't think the players are going to come out and say the complete opposite.

No of course not and that's because they don't think the complete opposite.

No player would ever back their manager like that unless they believed in them, they'd have no reason to.

No it doesn't at all.  You are preventing speech as though it is fact.  The players will not want to portray a negative image of the dressing room, and may well have been instructed not to say anything against the manager.  We also know how pro-King that website is.  To assume that those statements blow any notions of unrest in the dressing room out of the water is just plain naive.

I've heard different from other players out on the lash.

The problem is that the dressing room is split, some are indeed right behind the manager like Heywood and his other favs and there's a bunch that isn't.

So they players are motivated to keep King in a job (who gives them a bit of an easy life, Matt Heywood - would you get away with that much boozing under a more professional manager?).

But are they motivated to get Swindon Town into big cup games and boost the clubs coffers? No they fucking are not.

KING OUT.

Instructed by who? If they didn't believe in the manager they would either keep quiet completely or come out and say it.

The players have said exactly the same stuff on the radio, any adver conspiracy theories are getting a bit far-fetched.

Plus Heywood is one of Kings favourties. Imagine what Andy Nicholas would say.

well of course they will back king, but they wouldn't come out and say anything unless it was true.
KING IN.

I think Barry Potter probably summed the situation up quite well.  Heywood wouldn't have come out and said that if he didn't mean it, still it doesn't mean they all think like that.

At this level players are more likely to do a David than a Craig Bellamy.

Short term contracts and all it's unlikely that any player would ever come out and question the manager.

There have been a couple of public spats most recently with Mooney but publicly at least that was appeared to be put to bed amicably enough.

Too many people have claimed the players don't want to play for King when they have no evidence. It's not just Heywood - Smith, Parkin, Roberts, Igoe, Howard, Holmes and Slabber have all supported the manager recently, probably others too.

Their evidence is on the pitch in games where the lads have been totally embaressed.

Myself I think its down to their lack of fitness, Kings tactical ineptness and King failing totally to get the team motivated.

Only one answer. Resign tommorow.

Lads if a journo asks you (as a player) a leading question about the manager, ie what's the general feeling about Andy King, the players have no choice but to say "all the lads are behind the gaffer etc" you'd be a cock to say anything else, you be dropped quicker than a cross by Jens Lehmann.

Look in the papers. Read about a Mr. C. Bellamy.

Maybe then you will get the point.

Take Grant Smith wasn't even asked about it in his interview on the radio but still wanted to defend the manager and he's supposedly not one of King's favourites.

Dave are you smacked up again.

But if he's seen to defend the manger, Smith that is, he's probably more likely to stay in the team.  Ass kissing your manager is nothing new, it does you good to get on your managers good side in all walks of life.

If a player likes the manager then he may well come out and say so.

He would never do an interview about the manager if he didn't like him, let alone lie about the whole thing. If he had any sense (so that rules out Igoe) then he would just keep quiet.
