Just got to learn to take our chances when we're on top, had we done so we would have walked this game.
To be fair,  overall they looked by far the stronger side

We havent been bad tonight we just came up against a keeper on form and we cannot fucking defend set pieces.

Woolery and Hope both not the best games, not really any poor performers though TBH.

A more flattering scoreline you will never see.

Colchester got away with that one today - why they didn't start with the physical presence up top is beyond me.  As both they and Newport have shown, there is a way to beat us and create havoc in our play.

Up until they made they subs it was all us, and a decent forward up top could have seen us 3 or 4 in front.

At least Exeter didn't gain on us.

Really? Stronger physically, presumably...? In the game I saw we were the better team, but fucked up with poor defending in the last 10 minutes.

Don’t want to write him off after 2 games, but Hope needs to up it if he wants to be a regular.

Unlucky result tonight.  Draw probably a fair reflection but cest la vie.  Looking at remaining fixtures the only game on paper I think we may lose is against Northampton. Every other fixture we should win or draw at a minimum.

2 points ahead of Exeter in 2nd (who also lost today). They still have a game in hand.
Big game Saturday.

5 points ahead of Plymouth in 4th who are still playing. They can overtake us if they win their games in hand but Crewe in 3rd, who won today, cannot.

11 points ahead of Chelthenham in 8th

From the moment Nouble came on you could see the way to goal for them - any sense of solidity at the back fell away and it was a matter of time before the panic it created in our defence was going to give them a chance or three.  Even 3 up we'd have conceded the 3 we did late on today - the team that finished against us and Newport are like our Kryptonite.

SSP thought Hope did well - and I agree, he was ok. Would have scored from his header, we’re it not for a great save. A lack of pace in both full back positions seemed to cost us today.

Watching that though, it shows how important it is to have the playing surface we have at the County Ground. That was a horrid pitch and we just can’t play on those.

Indeed.  Of all the games I have seen, this Colchester team (with the big lads up top) and Newport are the only ones who've bullied us.  The rest can try and have big players but are less competent.

True - but we do need to find a better way of coping with it.
