Good to see some money coming in but how do we make much money out of it considering we don't own the ground?! The same way we make money from selling tickets to the football. Elton seems to be doing a big football ground tour he's also playing at Stoke, Reading, Kilmarnock, Southampton, Norwich, Huddersfield, Bolton, Coventry's grounds and Easter road. Should make us some money this. :beers

Easter Road eh? Doubly good news for me then. Should sort Hibs and Swindon out with a few much needed extra pennies.

WTF?
Let me get this straight. Elton John is playing the county ground?
this must be a piss take :? Straight and Elton John in the same post - never thought I'd see the day. And any way with Dukey in such good form, he'll never get on the bench, let alone play! I hear Kingy's lined up Andy Nicholas as the support act. The only time he'll make it on th CG pitch this year This would have worked better.... I hear Nicho's bought a ticket it's the only way he's going to get on the CG pitch this year!

Like someone said an event like this could lead to a lot of support for re-developement of the ground and that can only be a positive thing.

Elvis would have been better. The fat Chinese one... http://www.bbc.co.uk/tyne/roots/2003/04/images/paulelvischan_150.jpgFair play though could be a real money spinner. Will have to be a full house mind as the chubby crooner rakes in silly money for each gig and anything short may leave us out of pocket.

I think it should be born in mind that when the Lindisfarne gig was tried in the 70's it was a financial disaster, because the town just wasn't ready for something so radical as a gig in the football ground......gates for the football though were often up around the 20 ,000 mark.
Now given that this show is also on at the MadStad and St Mary's, so catering for large amounts of out of towners, I'd be surprised if it pulls in many more than 4 to 5 thousand.

All hail to the new Supersonic!!! Come on Reg, you must be able to come up with loads more reasons than that as to why this is going to be a total disaster???!!!???
