Newcastle arent exactly a million miles away from where they were.

4 points in the last two have helped which is mainly down to that ex England striker Mr. Owen.

Joe Kinnear has got the players putting in the effort which is all you can ask really - fair play to him he deserves his chance until the end of the season.

Although I am not an England supporter, how on earth that pile of shite Defoe gets in the team ahead of Michael Owen is a joke. Defoe needs about 7 good chances to score a goal, an over-rated load of rubbish

Agreed Dachauer-Id go as far as to say that Owen is the best performer at international level thart England have had for the past 15 years at least

Owen has been injured and is only just getting a run of games. I'd expect him to get selected now he is fit.

Defoe - Ericsson realised he wasn't good enough ans so  was left at home and 12 year old Theo Walcott was taken to the WC instead.

you can't fault cappello's selection policy. he only picks players who are match fit and michael owen hasn't been match fit for about four years. true, he can score goals in any condition but that's not enough at international level.

when fit, he will start for england as his movement and finishing are second to none. what a dink past james the other night and i liked the replay where you could see him mouth "what a fucking finish eh".

defoe hasn't been getting in ahead of owen, its pretty obvious that in a fair contest between the two owen wins pretty easily. he just needs to get himself fully fit and available for selection.

p.s. defoe isn't incredible but can be pretty handy in the right situation and mood.

I reckon thats the end for Joe...

Seems he is a manager from yesteryear...

Nowadays the players have too much say and too much to say.

Hard line managers who dont take any shit from their players just dont last.....Macari wouldnt cut it now.

Hopefully JFK will be alright, but I don't think he will come back to management. Calderwood is now assistant manager to Chris Hughton
