Now all we need is for Glenda and Punter to go and we might stand a chance

Warne is the only Aussie Cricketer that i have any respect for,his record speaks for itself.

One of the best spinners of all time, would be a shame for cricket if he does go, but about bloody time from a english view!

I met Shane Warne once and it goes down as one of the best days of my life!

He really doesn't need to retire. Obviously we'll make 700 wickets and retire happy.

Alot of their players are close to the retirement age so one would hope the new breed aren't as good.

Curse you Australian Institute of Sport!

wife beating that's complete bollocks

one of the guys i coach for in the summer holidays did some work done at the rose bowl a winter or two ago. they saw warney at the ground and asked if he'd mind doing a q&a session with the kids. he sat down with 60 kids for over two hours answering every question they had and only finished when the kids had had enough

i know loads of people who have similar stories to tell about warne

shane warne is all class

I'd be surprised by Warnie, he's at the top of his game right now, but then i can understand his wanting to bow out at the top. It's probably the right moment for McGrath and his natural successor is already in the team (Clark)

warne will carry on until he's physically unable to bowl, i reckon he wants that 1,000 mark or as close to it as possible.

i love him, he's ace :0

Who will replace Warne as the spinner. Macgill maybe who is about 1 or 2 years younger than Warne.

Lets hope so, even though he's a good spinner Macgill has always been fairly expensive.

macgill is they are going for the safe short term option, but he isn't exactly in cricket aus' best books at the minute

the other candidates are

dan cullen, 22 years ish, south australian offie who's played a few odis and a test
cullen bailey, 21 years, south aus leggie
aaron heal, 23 yrs, left arm orthodox from western aus

Dan Cullen is a good bowler. Also Cameron White who was at Somerset last season.

cameron white is not a bowler these days. he is batsman and a class one at that. in fact his bowling's always been utter shut. he turns it less than giles

as good as warne is, i think murali will eventually surpass him in terms of wickets taken.

i would suspect that the Aussie back up players will not be as good as Warne or Mcgrath. you have to be pretty damn good to be that good!

Looks like Warne is definite, McGrath is next and even talk of Langer retiring on the radio this morning.

Warne may be a great bowler but he is also a cunt. Match fixer and doping offenses in the past are proof enough of that.

All things consiered i'd have to agree :)
Of course the fact that he's been one of the major reasons that we didn't win the Ashes for so long playing against him doesn't come into it in the least

Pleased to see Pidegon retire too,the bastard!The Barmy army had a great song for him,it went;
There's only one Glen Mcgrath, only one Glen Mcgrath,
With his pension book and his zimmer frame,
Glen Mcgrath has pissed himself again :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:  8)
