Title: New Peterborough 2,500 stand
Post by: JayBox325 on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, 15:30:17
Just saw that Peterborough's brand new 2,500 capacity stand will have it's debut against us on Saturday 22nd November. I'd have thought that would get a good away attendance especially after last season!

Could be a big game with them flying high at the minute and us looking like we should be...

Seems a little unambitious in terms of capacity for a club with their aspirations/potential.  Were there planning constraints?

Always a good away day that one. Better get a stock of felt pens in

Posh are top of the league, spending money on players, cheaper tickets than us (with the option of a proper terrace!) and still only get 6,000 fans.

Real shame that owner of theirs didn't invest here as he's wasted at Peterborough.

Ok for an away end. Guess in time they could build a larger home end plus a bigger stand on the car park side.

Spose that will become the new home end and we will get their old cow shed - which is still standing I believe, although God knows how

I thought 2,500 was a little low. Championship away attendances should sell it out easy enough.

Looking at their site they'll be redeveloping the other stands too. http://www.theposh.com/news/article/20140603-terrace-now-available-for-the-season-1597710.aspx

I don't know where the away fans will go, but I'd have thought there'd be a shuffle around.

We were in the middle of the stand nearest the river last season, they might even keep it like that until they finish building.

They have a 'webcam' of the site.

http://theposhmedia.com/webcam/

When really it's just 4 images that get updated... they'll get updated in 15 mins. Oh how exciting...

It's probably all that JPT money that's helping them afford a new stand!

I've just gone ahead and favourited this tweet:

https://twitter.com/SuperPosh7/status/509340401946611712

"Swindon Town will be the first visitors to watch their team lose from the new Moy's End. Hope they enjoy it."

This SuperPosh guy was a absolute wanker last season. I hope he gets egg on his face come 5pm on the 22nd November.

Assume they will chuck the home fans in the new stand and we will have behind the other goal? Hope we aren't on the side as it was shit there last season

If they do use the new stand as an away end, it looks like it'll basically be a slightly bigger version of Wycombe, complete with 'basketball hoop' rings for pre-match entertainment.

We won't get the London Road end.  If we aren't in the new stand we will be in the side again.

Staying in the side stand apparently. This would annoy me if I thought there was any chance I'd be able to afford to go :)

Chances are we'll be in the usual away allocation at one end of one of the side stands. They'd never give us their 'home end' with terracing. Although, I could be wrong. Depends how many of us want to go.

They have reduced prices for home fans for their new stand

http://www.theposh.com/news/article/20141117-reduced-pricing-for-new-stand-opening-2087963.aspx

We'll be in the stand down the side for sure.

I'll be there, in the directors box though as going corporate for the day thanks to one of my Dad's friends who's a big Posh fan. It's all free so very happy with that....

So they're allowed to charge their own fans £15 in advance for the new stand, but we're paying £23 in advance or £26 on the day for the old one?

Jesus don't start all this again. We've done this for special offers and stuff where away fans pay full price so buy a pack of cards and fucking deal with it.

Not disagreeing but all clubs do it including ourselves so we just have to get on with it. :(

Hits home a bit more as I've just spent £69 on 3 adult tickets, plus a ticket for my 7 year old was £10...

They have been giving away free tickets at the local schools to try & get people to go.

We have been complaining about our crowds, there's are significantly worse.

Even when they were in the championship the number of home fans wasn't great.

He couldn't even get in Bradford's first team.

His return hasn't met with much enthusiasm from Posh fans - plus they are saying they are real dog shite this season.

Recipe for a Town disaster, then!

I feel sorry for their chairman a bit. You can see why he invested in Posh, reasonable sized city with nowhere really that close, so potential is there... He's not really got the response I think he thought he'd get. He seems to enjoy it though so fair enough!

I'd have thought Fergie would have gotten a similar response to PDC purely for who his Dad is and what he could bring to the club...

I would say it's a shame, but I hate Posh fans so fuck 'em.

I went to Bristol City v Posh in the season they were both relegated from the Champ. Sat with the Posh fans, they spent the whole game slagging Fergie off.

I absolutely love that old stand on the river side. It was rocking last year for the jpt match - hopefully will be the same again the year, but with a slightly better result
