Southend forum are saying its a failed FA drugs test.
Turns out they were right then. I thought I remembered a rumour from further back too and yes there was.... @FLRumours: Blackpool have sacked forward Nile Ranger after testing positive for drugs; allegedly cocaine and magic mushrooms. @NilePowerRanger #bfc

I disagree. Don't mind them doing drugs, but they should wear full dinner suits while doing so.

He has fallen really far, I thought he might get a gig in the conference but he does not seem to be able to get a regular game anywhere

He has even dropped to potentially a lower level than his brother who is now up at Stranraer (not going to investigate how Scottish third tier compares to English sixth tier)

Slightly better career path since leaving us (registered on loan, but not sure he ever set foot on the pitch) - Eddie Howe is the bookies' favourite to take over at Arsenal.

That would be a bit of a leap for them, not doubting his merits as a manager but in terms of club scale Bournemouth to Arsenal is a hell of a jump, he has had a nice quiet life down on the south coast with none of the wider pressures that managing in the top half brings?

There is no way Arsenal will gamble on the relatively inexperienced Howe, they will appoint another foreign coach.
