Title: my views on blackpool game
Post by: STFCere on Saturday, December 17, 2005, 19:11:46
very poor, very very poor. Ive seen better conference footie than that. evans played well, kept us in the game with a few fines saves, i remember a superb save towards the end that kept us level. Ifil was again poor, hoofing it up the field non stop, but a fairly decent tackler. O'Hanlon did ok, but fairly average really. Nicholas had one of his better games, and smith was quite poor. As for the midfield, migz looked like the most composed of the lot, has a good eye for passing etc. pook shouldnt be starting in my opinion, we need an experienced battler in the middle. Bouaza was crap, totally ineffective. I cant understand why iffy likes him so much, hes done nothing since being here. Fallon played well but not as good as usual. Shakes came on and did well as did Holgate, lots of effort but neither really has the skill. On the whole, this was a crucial game and we bottled it. We should have been really up for this and we werent, lack of urgency as usual. In the end, we were thankful for the point as blackpool pressed late on for the win. Attendance was ok considering the discount, but the club were probably out of pocket, relative to normal prices. We need to improve, fast.

lack of urgency

That was the main problem, the players didnt treat it in the same 'win or bust' fashion as us fans are/were

It was boring, for the most part two bad sides frightened to make a mistake.

glad we are all in agreement. none of our loanees have performed this season. is it really the clubs fault? not really. we are skint and cant afford to pay for our own players. it all comes down to money, and no one is really to blame for that. However, that doesnt excuse the crap i saw today. £1 for u16? your having a laugh !

Heaton has been ace and kept us in many a games?
Gurney has played very well and looked a different player?
Bouazza has had decent games?
McDermott has had a few decent games?

or am I wrong?

heaton is ok, but nothing special
gurney is one of the best loanees we have but has a terrible and unacceptable disciplinary record
bouazza has done nothing
same with mcd

Heaton, nothing speical? yeah right...

Gurney, his discipline hasnt been that bad since he has been back. The red card he got at Bournemouth was a joke!?

Bouazza has played well, against Bristol City he was given man of the match?

McDermott played well against Oldham and today against Blackpool?

....or....have we been watching different games?

Rhys was the only one I thought was good :o He knows what he's doing. The rest of them, well...pretty poor :| Even Rory didn't do anything terribly special.
Apart from missing 2 absolute sitters, Mikolanda looks promising.

As for Jack Smith....my god, what in hell is he doing in our first team eh? He's utter pants...clearly can't take a free kick :-))(
The only real highlight of the match was the ref being floored :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

Smith had a stinker.
Ifil dropped his two regulation bollocks, luckily not converted.
Nicho was generally our best outfield player IMO.
Pook had no quality at all and even ran less than usual.
Migs started classily but fell apart, later  passing awful and getting caught.
No crosses from wings until Shakes came on late.
Hardly any constructive passing movements after the first few minutes.
Bouazza is so greedy, never knows when to lay it off.
Rhys saved the point we did not deserve, MOTM.

All obvious points perhaps, but hard to see what Iffy can do next.

Rhys was quality. He's just a class act imo
Nicho has come on leaps and bounds
Ifil played well apart from a few errors
O'Hanlon was o.k
Smith had a stinker
Migz had a jekel and hyde game, sometimes great, other times not so
Pook, Mcd and Bouazza just wern't there
Fallon didn't really get the service and was being pushed out wide too much
Mickolod should have had 2

Shakes injected some much needed pace down the wings, I really think he should start more often

Holgate ran and hustled the Blackpool defence. He should get a start soon aswell.

An average display all round, lucky to escape with a point.

I think that is probably the worst game of football I have ever had the misfortune of seeing us play. All the loanees can fuck off as far as i'm concerned. No urgency, no running, no tackling, no heading, fuck all. Were down and anyone who thinks any different are seriously deluding themselves.

Oh well, I wont bother going to another game this season if thats the case, didnt realise it was a for gone conclusion already.

Do the player know there is no point in trying?

Shall we just go bust now and not bother having a football team, sounds fantastic! cant wait!

If you call a few times everytime he touched the ball then fair enough, he made about 3 good tackles and that was it, id sooner have the youngster Henry in the side.

the effort wasnt there yesterday at all.

and how DV can be happy with the way we have been playing is beyond me we are playing crap even if we are picking up a few points here and there. Its not Iffys fault you can only work with what you have.

get realistic for crist sakes.

I thought it was awful .. failing to beat a below par Blackpool team at home .. bar Evans, Nicholas, Migz and Fallon - no one really performed

Sean O Hanlon set an awful example as captain .. worst player after Smith who had an appaling game

the midfield didnt exist cept for Migz who got tired doin it all

Pook and McDermoot were nothing short of absymal Bouazza below par and the substitutes were worse

Iffy thought Pook and McDermott did well .. what the hell was he watching??

The lack of passion was the most worrying thing ... I honestly cant see us escaping .. dont think Iffy knows what he is doing either ... the true test will be the january window tho .. if Iffy does the business then ... it will be the only hope ... im not that hopeful tho ..

They did put effort in...definately in the first 15 minutes and after that some of them were really trying.

Especially compared to the Barnsley game.

Before yesterday we were 14th in the current form table, above everyone else around the bottom bar the Gills.

In that spell, we've closed the gap between us and pack we are chasing, so we must have been doing something right. Now there are loads of teams on 21 points. Not so long ago we were 9 points behind 23rd place.

Yesterday was crap, but we dont actually play like that ever week do we?

We play much better on our travels.

Oh thats alright then at least they tried for the first 15 minutes(more like 5 from what I remember and I wasnt drinking) and at least some of them tried.

Just take a minute to read back what you just wrote.

Of the players that could stay on loan:

Heaton
Heath
and, Collins

should go.

Gurney (if fit enough)
McD
Mickolanda
Brown

should stay.   "Boozah's" gone, of course.

The remaining questions are:

Will Cureton return.
When's Nicolau going to return.
Will Shakes get a shake, and most important,

When's the next WCS tournamount going to be held.  Thank you STFC Village for Ilary Blasi, I will forever treasure the image of the thin material being stretched taught over the flower of her womanhood.

Well done Fatbury and Yeovil. I'm glad i'm not the only one who thought it was utter shite. Some people need to wake up. Form tables and the players "really trying" are bullshit. The stat that counts is the league table. We are bottom of the league because we are shite and cannot even beat Blackpool at home who are equally as shite. I know we are only 3 points from safety but we need to vastly improve if we are going to have a chance.

It was fucking shit on Saturday, I felt like standing by the tunnel at the end shouting abuse at every one of those mother fuckers, for wasting 2 hours of my life.

Thank fuck I'm not going back for a while, not about at Christmas/New Year, so hopefully absence will make my heart grow fonder for those useless pricks.

We were indeed poop after the first 15 mins on Saturday. How Blackpool didn't score is a mystery.

But I am taking heart that we are only 3 points off the safety places which, given it felt like the entirety of the league 1 strugglers won on Saturday, is actually quite good.

I'm forgetting about the performance now. Lalalalalala, i can't hear you.

The ref was a cock. Not unfair, but nit pickingly frustrating. He even moved a free kick 2 fucking inches before it could be taken.  Uriah Rennie wannabe.

I'm no expert but 'yesterday' usually refers to the day preceding today, and as it's monday, yesterday is usually sunday, and as the Arse were the only team to lose yesterday (except liverpool in Japan) it is a safe assumption!

Talking of Glynis I wonder if he’ll do us a favour in January and lend us a Wolf for the rest of the season.

I’m not sure where he’s up to but I wouldn’t mind seeing George come in to replace the departing Boozer, that is if he’s ready for first team action.

If my memory serves me correctly then he came back pretty quickly from his last long-term injury and played a considerable part in their playoff winning season.

out of curiousity, were you at rotherham and oldham?

whilst i don't think we're playing well enough to stay up, our performances away from home have been in stark contrast to the apathetic showings against barnsley and blackpool. even the effort is better away from home.

but yes, we're bottom and we're going to drift further away unless results improve quickly.
