Actually Exeter have signed Rhys Evans(30) Jamie Cureton(36) Matt Oakley(34) Kevin Amankwaah(30) Pat Baldwin(29) Tommy Doherty(33) Arron Davies(28) Alan Gow(29) Craig Woodman(29)

Are they re-branding Exeter to Walmington-on-Sea.

(actually 33/34 is not that old is it)

I don't know if you need a strong physical fitness in that league or whether you can let your football brain do the work.

It just seems pretty unusual at that level to have such an aged (in relation to others) team rather than having younger players. We only had a couple of experienced (29+) players last season but had a good balance of youth and experience in the end.

Agent Zebrowski, born Swindon, played for Town youths but only became my hero at about 10pm one night in May 2007

Pox, hadn't after all won the Conference the previous Christmas and hadn't managed to hold on to a 2-0 play off lead at home to Exeter in the semis and with penalties level, Agent Zebrowski missed his penalty setting up a humiliating yellow home choke from which they still haven't really recovered.

Good luck for the future, Chris and thanks for the memories

Billy Paynter today to sign for Donny Rovers after Blackpool sent him back to Lids after a trial.

Quote
Billy Paynter is expected to complete a transfer to Doncaster Rovers on Monday, bringing to an end his torrid spell at Leeds.

Following the sale of Jermaine Beckford, Paynter arrived at Elland Road in 2010 and the pressure to succeed was high. The Liverpool-born striker was handed the number 9 shirt by then manager Simon Grayson who was expecting big things from the only player who had out-scored Beckford the season previous in League One.

Unfortunately, things never worked out for Paynter and he quickly became a target for ridicule amongst the Elland Road faithful who dubbed him “Barndoor” Billy due to his wayward shooting and subsequently poor goal return.

In many ways, Billy Paynter represents everything that went wrong with Simon Grayson’s Leeds United. When The Whites lost key players, very little money – often none at all – was made available for their replacements, leaving Simon Grayson forced to fill the gaps with free transfers and loanees. The result was invariably a drop in quality.

When Paynter’s transfer is completed on Monday, Neil Warnock will have successfully removed two high-earning players from the Elland Road wage bill in less than a week, which should hopefully free up funds for the “icing on the cake” signings the manager has been promising.

Latest team to be linked with Simon Cox is now Nottm Forest.

http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/Nottingham-Forest-race-sign-Simon-Cox-West-Brom/story-16660970-detail/story.html

Quote
NOTTINGHAM Forest have joined the race to sign West Brom striker Simon Cox.

The Reds are understood to have agreed a fee for the player with the Premier League club and held early talks with his representatives last night.

A three-year contract is on the table for the former Swindon Town player, who cost £1.5m when he signed in 2009. But there are still as many as five other clubs vying for his signature, including Scottish giants Celtic and newly relegated Blackburn.

Both clubs are understood to have had £2m offers rejected over the weekend and Forest are believed to be the first to have matched the Baggies' asking price for the 25-year-old.

Forest will be hoping to quickly tie up the deal for the Republic of Ireland international, who the Al Hasawi family view as being a potential marque signing, before any of their rivals can intervene.

Manager Sean O'Driscoll inherited a squad that already contains six senior strikers, but the capture of Cox would only bolster their firepower – and provide a clear demonstration of intent from the new owners.

Cox has scored ten goals in 65 appearances for the Baggies but had a prolific scoring record during his spell with Swindon, when he netted 40 times in 73 appearances between 2007 and 2009.

West Brom are willing to let Cox move on to pastures new – for the right fee – as they look to bolster their own front line with new signings.

In the meantime, Forest look to have hit a stumbling block in their efforts to sign defender Daniel Ayala on loan from Norwich City. The Reds had agreed a deal with the Canaries to take the Spanish central defender on loan for the season. But the 21-year-old is understood to be reluctant to commit himself to another loan deal, having already had spells with Hull City and Derby County in the past.

The former Liverpool player may reject the chance to come to the City Ground and instead fight for his place at Carrow Road.

Jerel Ifil is on trial at Torquay.

Torquay have released him not offering a contract...his journey continues

I'm surprised that Phil Smith has not been signed up by a club as yet, he will make a decent lower league keeper or no 2 keeper in L2 or conference

Obviously needs a new agent. Had a trial at Southend but didn't do very well.

Both Ifil and Smith are decent league 2 or conference players.  I actually really rated Jerel when he came to us, and for quite a while believed he would go quite far in the game.  Unfortunately he seemed incapable of learning - he had the raw attributes to be a decent centre back. If he could have learned to communicate and pass a ball, he could have gone far.
