Title: Sid Watkins
Post by: thedarkprince on Thursday, September 13, 2012, 18:33:01
Has died aged 84.

For those not familiar with his name, he was the track side doctor and chief medical officer within F1. He almost single handedly improved F1 safety immeasurably following Senna and Ratzenberger's deaths.

R.I.P.

RIP

The bit in the film Senna when he talks about Senna's soul leaving his body despite him being an athiest was very poignant.

A lot of drivers owe him their lives.

Mika Hakkinen and Rubens Barichello two name just two. Both owe their lives to his quick actions and expertise. Imagine the list is very, very long.
