Title: AV Receivers
Post by: mystical_goat on Thursday, February 8, 2024, 17:55:43
I currently have a messy setup with loads of wires and adapters in order to link up a TV, projector, BT TV freeview recording box, PS5, Fire stick, & laptop (to play films from), Bose soundbar, turntables and mixer, subwoofer and monitor speakers. I'd like to upgrade.

Some AVRs have 1 HD output but others 2, like this one:

Would that enable me to switch between TV/projector via the remote?

This is the back of my subwoofer:

I assume I use the phono line ins on the back of the sub to connect to the 2 phonos marked subwoofer on the back of the AVR?

And can I use the phono monitor out on the back of my DJ mixer to plug into the AVR, meaning I can sell the monitor speakers I've currently got? Here's the back of the mixer:

The idea would then be to add 2 floorstanding speakers. I've bookmarked these 2, second ones are maybe a bit too silly:

Or if my current sub isn't compatible with the AVR I'd maybe even get a whole 5.1 package like these two:

I think I'll try and look for 2nd hand stuff before new too.

This AVR will hook up the way you suggest - I have a pair of monitor audio silver RS 8’s and centre speaker in black for sale - £650 and pair of monitor audio Bronze rs6 with centre speaker and subwoofer in white up for £300

The silver RS8s are phenomenal for the price

As a further note, the Denon AVRs are excellent - I started with Onkyo and Pioneer the moved to Denon - I would go for the Denon 2800 over the Onkyo.

If you are just doing this for films/TV the the package is good but if you want to regularly play music then you’ll want a pair of full range fronts..
