As mentioned, Johnson is the key Aussie bowler. If we can neutralise him, and keep their batsmen in check, we've got a fair chance. Must win the first Test though, as we'll lose at Lords.

Great news about Lee. He is their dangerman with the ball. I can't see Johnson or Clark causing us as much problems. Now then who do The Aussies replace Lee with? Another spinner for Cardiff perhaps?

As for the selection I thought it was spot on with the exception of Panesar. I'd have gone with Rashid. He's got a better average and has taken more wickets this season in less games as well with a much better strike rate. Didn't get that choice. Onions was spot on though. Saw on SSN last night that his stats are better than Harmison's are so far this season and he bowled well against The Windies back in May. We have a lot of depth in our bowling options and I think that's the difference.

I see Glenda McGrath has predicted his normal 5-0 win for the Aussies, but I cannot see the Aussies bowling us out twice in a test with the current bowling attack now Lee is out injured, and I agree with IOB, that is going to be the difference.

Australia beat S Africa in Feb without Lee.

Let's not get too confident. Lee hasn't really been a prolific wicket taker at Test level has he ?

310 wickets at an average of 30 is pretty good to be honest. Its a plus that he's injuried for sure, but they have potentially more than half decent back up as proved by the South Africa win.

Fair enough, should have checked, but that's only 4 per match in a period of dominance.

But Lee is the man who brings the character to the team and the one that can make things happen.

averages something like 45 in England I believe, the Aussies generally seem not that bothered. However, the spell against the England Lions was beautiful, reverse swing at 90mph, like watching Simon Jones before he died.

I've got a feeling Peter Siddle might suprise a few people, very tidy bowler. I hope he's rubbish though.

Valid point, but he gives them an added something with his pace.

Anyone know of a dodgy site that's streaming the Ashes? I haven't got Sky Sports.
