chiswick is a bit light on the palate for me. 6 pints of ESB before Xmas lunch was the the traditional family start to the day.
I love old fashioned IPAs - thank fuck for India otherwise we would not have exceedingly strong and tasty ales.
You cannot get pissed on keg/lite/smooth lager - your liver processes it faster that you can drink it - there is no point to it
Lager is good - especially proper Pilsner
Cider is great and so is perry
Please don't drink shit - pay a little more for quality British products
real ale festival at Steam 4th-6th November

I can't believe keg bitter is still brewed, if I'm honest.  I got given a can of John Smith's a few weeks ago (it was the only thing going) and, when you're used to decent cask ales, the difference is as night and day.  Beer quality has gone up enormously in the last few decades...CAMRA and others can take a lot of credit there for pushing the cask ale revolution.  I was too young to be drinking in the 1970s and 1980s, but I'm told they were dark days.  Watney's Red Barrel?

I have tried Braydon Ales on a number of occassions in the 5 bells good pub always has guest beers

Thank God for CAMRA

Oh i do really.

He has a yarn which involves the Swindon Berex selling out of all beer apart from Red Barrell and people still refused to drink the stuff.

Yeah... a party seven made a great "bouncing bomb", if you lobbed it out of a train window, at opposition fans if you were on a football special passing through a station....especially if you sang the dambusters march.

Red Barrell - fucking awful stuff - the stuff of nightmares. Brew XI gave it a run for its money in its pure shittiness and the gormless Midlanders loved the stuff.

Was drinking Inferno (Oakham Ales) in the pub before the game today.

Never had it before, but it wasn't too bad at all.
