Had no service on iPhone 4S this afternoon (and hadn't read the stories at that point) so thought I'd upgrade my iOS from 5.1 to 5.1.1 to see if that made a difference.

It's taken longer than normal to d/l and install software (over an hour) and to add insult to injury it now says there's an error and I should restore my phone to factory settings.

There's a few photos, notes, etc on there that I'd like to recover but does anyone know how?

Yeah, I read the BBC News story about 60 seconds after I'd kicked off the fucking process.

iTunes will take a backup before starting the install so all you need to do is restore it.

Oh right, assumed that'd be lost, not sure why.  Anyway will give it a bash, what's the worse that could happen, eh?   Sad

My iPhone 4S is on 5.1.1.

Is it worth jailbreaking?
