Title: Live sports streaming
Post by: Bob's Orange on Sunday, August 21, 2016, 09:19:04
Apologies in advance as I know there is a thread somewhere about this but.....

Want to watch the GAA semi today (wife's from Mayo) and I've read somewhere about Kodi? Installed on the IPad but can't connect to local hosts or whatever. Can anyone provide help to a tech retard on what I need to do?

We also have a Samsung smart tv that would be good to utilise streaming, any tips on apps or whatever I can use?

What channel is it on mate?
There is an app called 'Universal TV HD', download it on to your iPad, I use it all the time and there is a good chance it will be on there. Click off the few adds that come up and you are away.

Thanks mate.

It's on sky sports 2.

Just downloaded it, seems to work although don't have any sound (which I can live with), is this normal?

It should have sound? Scroll through and see if you can find another stream, is usually works okay for me.

I've just managed to find Sky Sports 2 with sound on my phone.
Click 'Sports' on the main menu and then scroll down to 'SP 2'

That works a charm Quagmire, thanks mate!

Just watched the first half of the Boro game for testing and only minor lagging occasionally.

Sportsmania.eu do a paid sub.

15 quid for 3 months or 50 quid for a year. All buffer free and in HD. All 3 pm kick offs etc

If you want to make sure, GAAGO is the 'official' pay per view service that I use.  Might not be the cheapest option but it's very simple to use, and reliable.

Cheers Tans, will have a look at that. I don't watch a lot of Prem football etc but sounds decent.

Cheers Christy, again, I don't watch a lot of GAA (unless Mayo get to the latter stages) but will have a look at that also.

Mayo are in the final! Get in.

But will lose to the Dubs in the final, as usual.

I used the same service for 6 months trouble free. I'll renew if and when I want to watch a 3pm kick off, but haven't so far this season. Definitely worth it if you need to watch any live sport/ppv and there is a VOD section for catch up if you miss something.

There's also some films and tv on demand but never tried it personally.

I've just installed Kodi on my Firestick so I'd welcome any add-on recommendations.

Do you mean Chromecast?

You can't get Kodi directly on a Chromecast as you can with a Fire stick, but you can run Kodi on your phone/tablet and then cast it to the Chromecast. Details here: http://kodiforandroid.com/how-to-stream-kodi-on-the-android-to-chromecast/

Yes, yes I did. No iOS compatibility, so I'm out. Shame.

You do, but i only bought a sportsmania sub for 3 months to see what it was like. I already had a nbc sub, was trying to find the better provider if that makes sense
