Title: Offer for Austin...

Not sure if I misheard DW after the game but did he say we had received an offer for Austin that was being considered?

Eddie Howe was interviewed at the end of the Burnley game last night.

He was specifically asked about Charlie Austin but refused to comment.

Hes not happy at the club any more then I would accept any offer that is within 75% of his original, valuation, so if Fitton and Wilson rate him at £2 mill then accept any offer of £1.5 mill.

I have a feeling that it will be either Burnley or Southampton, Saints having a lot of money to spend if the transfer of Alex Double-Barrel goes through for £10 mill to the Arse or whoever it is.

Wherever it is, they either do it in the front half of the week, or not at all. We need to have time to use the cash.

My old man had someone who round who fitted an oven for him the other day who was a mate of charlie.

He said theyve all been telling him to keep his feet on the ground and stay put but his head has been turned by advice from his agent.

(Mind you i suspect we already knew this)

I hope we quote Holloways words back to him when he was talking about Charlie Adams....

"He has signed a contract and someone can come in, but it's not his choice and it's not their choice," added Holloway. "He belongs to us.

"I think he is still improving, and if someone wants to offer money I think they are wasting their time because we don't need to sell him at the moment."

"We're not stupid little Blackpool. If you want him, I want the right amount of money.

I think we should say this to him
Quote
I'm sure he is professional enough to look at it again in the summer and think about his choices then. In the meantime I want him to get on with showing off his brilliant skills and passing range for the remainder of the season. Charlie has the chance to help us achieve something really special and then he can gain his reward, so I don't see the rush.

I thought everybody knew footballers fall into two categories....those who favour  iPhone and those who favour Blackberry, to match their designer wash bags. Usually it's defenders who favour Blackberry....this could be the root of the disharmony apparent in our squad, if Austin is a Blackberry man, might  explain why Morrison wanted out.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, 2 million for him any less and they can tell the club to fuck off. He's still has a long way to go on his contract and we are one of the more profitable clubs in this league. We can't let an agent of a player or the player himself dictate what we do. Football has gone fucking crazy.

True, but they could just as easily fall at the last and end up in League 1 again next season.  It wouldn't be such a great move then would it, although it would be highly amusing?  Foolish to take the risk IMO, but quite honestly I'm tired of him hogging all the attention at the moment, so the sooner he goes the better tbh.

Rumours are that their lad chamberlain has been sold to Arsenal for stupid money so they may well be offering the asking price or significant cash plus player. WHEN we sell Charlie I just hope a significant amount is re-invested in the team the whole thing needs freshening up.

Giving the benefit of the doubt that there's any substance to this and not just the usual trolling, the misery must be intense - getting paid thousands a week to play football, scoring nearly a goal a game (before the "unhappiness" set in) that's making him one of the most sought after prospects at this level so he could probably have his pick of moves in the summer and idolised by thousands. It must be awful, the poor lamb

He got a fairly decent reception had his name chanted a few times, tried the hand waving gesture to the crowd to liven up but when he had an attempt on goal his reaction to the save / miss seemed to be a bit OTT in front of the stfc fans, certainly didn't hang back at the end to wave goodbye

Mind sharing the joke my Scandinavian friend.

I suspect Brizzle was the first BCFC that most people thought of Ralphy, we all just avoided mentioning the sleeping giants of Western Europe on purpose. :D

They aren't BCFC tho are they ?
Slavetraders (1982) Ltd maybe, but BCFC suggests a football club, so can't be them

Don't shoot the messenger but a reliable source who normally gets this sort of shit right says that Austin is going to join either Arsenal, Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Stoke City, Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United, Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers Barnsley, Bristol City, Burnley, Cardiff City, Coventry City, Crystal Palace, Derby County, Doncaster Rovers, Harlem Globetrotters, Hull City, Ipswich Town, Leeds United, Leicester City, Middlesbrough, Millwall, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest, Portsmouth, Preston North End, Queens Park Rangers, Reading, Scunthorpe United, Sheffield United, Swansea City, Watford, Southampton or Celtic.

Deal should be concluded by Wednesday.

So Sheffield are the favourites

You're such a shit WUM. You haven't even put where he's been seen having a medical today. You need at least 5 clubs 200+ miles apart. Sort it out!

Tweet from stfc adver. Charlie not going anywhere today

So end of another day at Town. No movement, plenty of speculation. Austin didn't leave Swindon - he trained all day. Bring on Tranmere

Aye but this morning they say bids are in from Blackpool and Burnley.

Knowing Holloway and Blackpool though their bid will be around a pound.

Reckon they will bid low at around 1.2 million and we'll probably accept 1.5 million with add ons for appearances etc which could take it up to 2 million.

Or I could be totally wrong and they'll just accept 1.2 million.

Still reckon Fitton will hold out for £2m plus add ons, or something equivalent. So maybe a lower fee with some easily achievable add ons or a higher than normal sell on clause, perhaps with a player or two thrown in. Fitton hates agents and Austin putting in a transfer request will have just pissed him off and less likely to give ground on the money.

I cant see the up front fee being much more than £1mill but with add ons taking it over £1.5mill in all honesty.

From the Beeb

Blackpool are to sign former Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere, who is a free agent, and Moroccan international defender Salaheddine Sbai on loan from Nimes.

i agree with you with regards to upfront.i think add ons might push it nearer 2 mill though.that's more hopeful than thinking it will happen though

A lot of the add ons will be dependant on Charlie being a success though so it's a gamble when jumping 2 levels.  Look at Cox, who IMO is a better player.

I  really don't see what the problem is with lower bids. If someone bids less than your valuation you turn it down. Then they either up the bid or go away. Either way we win, either by getting the right money or keeping the player.

Trouble is that this just drags it out and leaves us less time to bring a replacement in..

other trouble is-it unsettles the player and apparently makes him become crap!

pointless holding onto a player who wants out.getting the best price is what matters now

As long as the low bid is a starting point I reckon the fee will be around £1m up front £1m in installments and then add ons and a sell on clause - I was told down the pub last night so it must be true

Damned if we sell, damned if we don't (unless Charlie can overcome the issues).

He's younger than Cox and has more potential at this stage clubs are not only buying for what he can do now but what he can potentially do in the future which is where all the add on's will come into play, I suspect Austin will go for more than Cox

Title: Re: Offer for Austin...

Title: Re: Offer for Austin...

Correct me if I'm wrong but Austin has longer on his contract than Coxy Had

Title: Re: Offer for Austin...
Post by: Berniman on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, 17:00:15
Cox was consistent for a longer period of time.  Less of a gamble with Cox because of his history and proven quality at a club from higher levels.  Charlie has only been a pro for a year so is more of a gamble.  Cox wasn't much older than Charlie when he left, and Cox was/is a better all round player (IMO).  Charlie has got a longer contract but less history so it evens itself out.

We will get maximum 1.5m up front with add ons, more likely 1m - 1.2m with bigger add ons including a big motherfucking sell on fee.

I would guess!

I dont say much and haven`t read the rest of this thread BUT if we get £ 1.5m offer we should take it. The sale of Cox got us to the play off final...Wilson can go now....get some serious lower league defenders in quick - avoid going down and spend the money over the summer on wages etc to give us another go at getting out of League 1. I will now read what everyone else has been saying....
