He is off to Scunthorpe as they have £1mill burning a hole in their pocket from the sale of Martin Paterson to Burnley and he wont cost more than £300k. Apparently it was Colchester that have already bid £300k for him that was turned down.

I honestly cannot see Gillespie ever setting the football world alight - forking over £300,000 for him is quite a gamble.

£300k+ for him makes Cox a bit of a bargain if you ask me.

Very big gamble. Cant see Gillespie being the striker to send Scunthorpe back up.

...but losing him would surely see Cheltenham go down?

"Colchester United have bolstered their striking ranks with the purchase of Steven Gillespie from Cheltenham Town for a new club record transfer fee, in excess of £400,000."

No pressure then Gillespie!

Thats far far too much. He's OK, but you would want him as the second striker, not the main man.

Cheltenham have actually done well for themselves in the end money wise. But they struggled for goals last season, going to be even worse now.

Goin Down Goin Down Goin Down.

That's a ridiculous amount of money for an average league one player.
