What happened to Razak

I hoped at the time that the headless chicken might turn into a bit of a ledge for us.

Glad it's worked out OK for Pooky and he got a bit of attention on the Football League show. He always gave a 100% for us and his work rate was good if maybe not the quality. He passed through several managers who stuck by him Kingy, Iffy, Wise, Strurrock and Malpas (although I think he had a rolling contract based on appearances to trigger another one) so they must have seen enough to keep him.

Shame that some of the local lads who've come through don't seem to win over the fans and get a bit of stick in some quarters. Would love to see more local lads come all the way through alhough Charlie has done that in a (Magic) roundabout way.

Talking about French players can anyone recall the name of the young French winger Andy King signed that resulted in a compensation claim from his previous French club for what I remember being a huge amount of money back then?

If I recall he looked shit hot and at one point had been quite a prospect in France but ended up going back to France.

Ruster was last seen at US Le Pontet in the French amateurs.

Wikipedia told me so.

Quote
After being recommended by Peter Reid following a trial at Leeds, Ruster signed for Swindon on a short-term deal in October 2003, after some impressive appearances in the Town's reserve team. Ruster made his debut as a late substitute in a 2-1 home defeat against Stockport on 11th October, after Andy King responded to the fans' cry of "Bring on the Frenchman"!

Ruster made just three more appearances for Swindon, the LDV Vans Trophy tie at Boston being his only start, before he was forced to leave the County Ground - when former club Cannes claimed that as he had moved abroad, Swindon owed them almost £300,000 in compensation according to FIFA rules. Ruster returned to France in January 2004, where he eventually signed for struggling French amateur side, ES Fréjus.

Shockingly, FIFA upheld Cannes' claim, and ordered Swindon to pay the money for Ruster, even though he had

Cheers all, I cannot believe we paid the 300k.  I though the case was thrown out.

Does that make Ruster one of if not our most expensive purchase in recent times?

It was a European court that settled the case - FIFA initially ruled that we pay €345,000 for him, it was reduced to €20,000 on appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.... hence the £13,600!!

Amazing that FIFA would do that to a skint 3rd division side who had seemingly brought the player in oblivious to the claim that would be made against them.
