To be honest we have missed that on field leadership on the field since Gurney left. O'hnlon is ok but he really is too young to be a captain. And we all know that Hewlett was a shit captain and a twat in the bargain.

If we sign Smith then he would be an excellent captain, he has bags of experience etc

Who you reckon should captain the town side next season?

He's had the captaincy and I haven't noticed a marked difference.

Ideally, it's nice to nominate a captain who has been at the club a period of time, but with so many newbies there is no player currently who stands out as being an ideal choice, other than Reeves but clearly he will not be first choice.  I doubt Cureton is captaincy material, though I must confess to knowing little of Thorpe.  The same could be said of Whalley, who I don't think has been captain at any of his previous clubs.  Paul Smith on the other hand would be an ideal candidate!

I imagine we'll have another season of being without a true club captain, someone who will grab the team by the balls and get them a win.  Mooney would have made a good captain in my opinion...

EDIT:  Ron Dodgers to the rescue - yes the more I watch Jenkins, the more I'm warming to him - initially I thought it was a bit of a pointless signing.  Give him the captaincy, best candidate in the squad.

Smith if he does sign if not possibly Jenkins or stick with O'Hanlon.

Smith would be a natural choice if he does sign but at the end of the day armband or not you have to hope he'll be pulling things together in the middle.

Everything's looking rosy in terms of the squad but we are still without that elusive holding player in midfield.  One more addition like Smith and I think we'll be laughing.

It should be O'Hanlon on the basis that I own his left knee for the forthcoming season

Jenks would be good, Smith if he signs

Migz has been here the longest now.....Think he would set a good example as captain, but probably not be vocal enough....

For his intelligence, knowledge and ability to read the game it has to be Jerel Ifil.

Smith would be a natural leader, if he signs the captaincy should go to him.

dunno, I can see him signing. Derby and Sheff Wed have both denied their interest and frankly, he'd only end up sitting on the bench for a season for those two clubs. If he came to us, he'd probably finish his career here and have a good season.
