Anyone know how far either of them are from full fitness?
Whalley seems to have disappeared of the face of the earth given his pedigree (prior to last season) I’d be interested to see if Wise can get some of those “magnificent” passes the Wigan and Bradford fans described him capable of.

i heard Whalley has nearly finished the pre-season training and Gurney after having a second operation is possibly just starting pre-season, not sure though.

I think having both back would be a bonus, Gurney or Whalley alongside Evans would be decent... bit of bite in front of the back four.

Whalley played quite well towards the end of the season, admittedly no world beater but before the franchise injured him on purpose I thought he was one of our better players in a struggling team.

As people say, Whalley is good player.
Personally though I'd still play Evans, Weston, Pook and Ince (if he stays) above Whalley.
Gurney would be usefull as a spare right back or centre back.

I have a strong dislike for Gurney, but there are times I absolutely love him. At Scunthorpe away last season he wound up Keogh a treat, it was fucking brilliant to watch.
He was ace in 03/04 aswell.
