Has his off days, hes inconsistent but on his day hes as good as anyone on the left in the whole of the division

was our only outlet due to easton not being a right winger (not his fault)

he had little support from vincent at left back.

spot on, and the reason he is at Swindon is because he is so inconsistent, if he was consistent he would be in the premier league/good champiopnship team. Same with Zaaboub.

I think Roberts' performance summed up the game for us. We weren't crap but frustrating.

You may have also failed to notice how our left wingers keep getting 2 men at a time marking them out of the game. When Vincent doesn't get forward it makes the left winger seem worse. It's also why McNamee hasn't appeared to be very good.

what annoyed me is Malpas claims this formation with Roberts being a half midfielder half forward is more attacking, yet when we are a goal behind and need to score he brings on McGovern and goess 442, so according to Malpas' philosphy he has gone more defensive to try and get back into the game  :?

Roberts didn't play well yesterday, but the people trying to get him off are wrong. He is one of the few players in our team i'd back to do something brilliant to turn a game, no matter how awful he was for the previous 88 minutes.

If he was more consistent he wouldn't play for us.

It's amazing how people's opinions are so varied.
I just thought he done nothing all game, had one good cross that went in but that was it.
He has the ability to be a good player but just doesn't want to be.

I didn't go to the game yesterday so can't really give an opinion on his performance yesterday.
I think Roberts has lost a couple of yards of pace this season, he has ability (without doubt), he also has a big attitude problem, and I believe this attitude he shows at games is because he realises he just can't do what he use to do a couple of seasons ago. At a professional level you need pace as well as skill and for me Roberts has lost it.

He's also slightly less frustrating than McGovern too. McG has oodles of ability but no engine and completely scared of making a tackle. I hope it's just a bit of a confidence thing but he has to start delivering.

Lack of end product and no left foot would be my only criticism of his performance yesterday, unlike the twats around me shouting abuse at him throughout the second half.....I very nearly got angry......

Roberts did well, if u are goin to have a pop at Roberts for his performance then u need to have a pop at the likes of Cox Paynter Easton Peacock cos Roberts was no worse than any of those.

True. He's OK in defence but why does he hoof it so much? Such a waste. When we need him to hoof it down the line he never bothers but when we don't he always does it. So predictable. No wonder teams always mark us so tightly down the left. His crossing was very poor yesterday as well.

agreed hes no world beater but Nicho isnt any better so have to go with Vincent with the current crop of players we have.

Maybe we could play Easton there instead

I disagree. Think Nico offers more going forward. Vincent is better at cente back.

But Vincent as a centre back is not as good as Aljofree Ifil or Kanyuka when fit.

Nicho isnt as good defensively as Vincent, but Vincent isnt as good getting forward, 6 of 1 and all that

Our best wingers are probably Zaaboub and JPM when on form.

depends what u look at, at beating players Zaaboub, McNamee and Roberts better than JPM, for delivery JPM pisses over them all

on form JPM is the best of the bunch, best crosser of the ball we've got as well.

roberts has played some of the best passes i've seen any town player do in recent years.but they are a rare occurance.
if we are on about consistantly better crosses then zaboob and jpm win hands down.

None of them are anything special.

Which is why they ply their trade in league 1.........................

No he isn't. Mcnamee is. Can't remember the last time JPM put a decent cross in. In fact i can't remember the last time he did anything decent at all.

JPM got most assists in League Two last season so the ability is obviously there, just never gets the quality for us :evil:

Yes he did well at MK and wasn't bad at Wednesday from what a gather. So why is he poor for us?

cos we have a dick head manager who plays him in central midfield when he is the best crosser of a ball we have at the club

i thought he lacked an end product because:

the full-back got so tight to him he couldn't turn him to come inside on his right-foot often enough to cross and/or shoot.

he hasn't got a left-foot so first time crosses aren't an option.

leeds doubled up on the wingers all game, vincent never gets forward and when he does looks lost so it was essentially two on one all the time for robbo.

the abuse and stick he got from the people around bennett and i was fucking absurd - right from the first minute people were demanding he was taken off.

i bet dv is right about the assists

JPM doesn't stick out wide enough, or make any runs to the byline. For a winger that is criminal. Also his crossing is more often than not, poor. His only good game was against Brentford.

was in the apartment on saturday with most of them including kaid and a few other footballer types that i didnt reconise (perhaps leeds)

they all seemed pretty pissed (except corr as always, legend) but robbo mightve just been enjoying himself, none of the bar staff said they remembered serving him anything and i didnt fancy sniffing his drink.
