Better than I thought.

Who are these crazy fools buying season tickets? oh yeah, the likes of me :?

Personally i dont think we'll make the 4,000 mark, i cant see that many more people paying higher prices unless we get a couple of "names" in soon.

Problem is last season there was only 700 or so non season ticket holders coming to matches.  If we only sell 3,000 season tickets the CG's going to be terrible.

We only sold 3000 season tickets last year.

I can't really see attendances being much lower next year even if we're doing shit. Mid table doesn't attract anyone back, it's pushing for promotion and being at least top 6 that brings the crowds in.

Wasn't it nearer 3500? Seem to remember the club getting all excited about the 3500 as it was about 700 up on the season before, which they felt was "proof" that the high matchday ticket price strategy had worked.

Puppets would be a great gimmic though, we'd be the talk of the league.

The players would love it too.

I'm in a negative mood, so I'll go with:

We've only managed to persuade 2230 of the 3000+ to renew their tickets at a reduced rate.  I would have thought you'd be crazy not to renew a ticket, if you were going to, at a reduced price.  Why would they all wait for the early discount to stop before renewing.

What I'd like is a...

x % of current season ticket holders have renewed them up to the end of the discount period, this compares to x % of at the same time last year.

You would expect the volume to be higher so far this year because people want them cheaper.  The challenge now begins, which is get as many people as possible to sign up at the normal rates.

Sorry, i can't seem to help myself at the moment.

Well 2300 is a lot more than I though, though it actually says "2,230 units" , I assume the unit they are talking about = a season ticket?

Yes, a business treats something that is on sale as a unit.  Individual season tickets, shirts, shorts, socks etc are all 'units'.

Typically but not necessarily, surely a unit can mean anything the business defines it as.

I think you are right in this case but it is not impossible that a TE season ticket is 1 unit, a nationwide 1.5 units (for example).

But then they would be making a unit equivalent to a price, if you see what I mean.  In this case 1 season ticket is 1 season ticket is 1 unit, otherwise they'd be selling themselves short, in terms of people who own a season ticket.

I realise this is making me sound like the boring tit I am, but if a unit was a price was (e.g.)  £100 and the price of a TE ST was £100 and elsewhere was £200, then we could sell 3 units and it could mean 3 STs or 2 STs.

Assuming the latter, if the club wanted to spin our season ticket sales story it would say 3 units but mean 2 season tickets.

But I think all my arguing is cack and I have become over cynical and over suspicoius of the club. I think Gray said we had increased sales over this time last year, so surely that means 1 unit = 1st.

I see what you're saying Batch, but:

a) They said the sales are up on same time last year which would have to be over 2000 I'd have thought
b) I don't think the club's financial analysis is that sophisticated

And if they make 4000 I'll ....  erm, be quite surprised

Crikey o riley, thanks Reg! Don't know why there's all this fuss over Ashley Cole, we're clearly studying the wrong English full-back :-- (wolf-whistle)

I think maybe they could. There are some very good players in the women's team, but half of them are total crap!

from what I saw of the England v Finland game, STFC would beat the England womens team. We'd have too much pace, height and power and skill.

I'd predict a 5-1 win to town :D

We'd do even better if we had Terry Fenwick back in the side, with all those women to get physical with.
