I think any player outside the years 1989-1994 would get in the best team of the last 20 years. I dont remmember much about it, but you only have to look at what those teams did. Only Mark Walters would really come close.

Perhaps best team of the last 10 years is a harder question.

I would agree that I was much better than Jon Gittens but I just went for the best XI players I have personally seen together on a football pitch at the same time, aka the 1990 play off winners.

Thanks for the mention any way Cool

I hate thinking how different things would be if it weren't for the demotion, we'd have stood a far better chance of staying up back in 1990...

Just missed out on ever seeing that team play - I was a season too late. That team is proof a team can play without any natural wingers, just attacking full backs.

If we were to go down that route now

                           Brez
J Smith    Ifil                   Williams       Nicholas
                           Evans
              Weston               Timlin
                             Pook
             Peacock                Jutkiewicz

We WOULD have stayed up; no doubt with that team.

That's the most annoying bit of all about the whole damn thing.

4-4-2 with Hoddle in midfield (based on his performance there in the second half at Birmingham! We'd have won the league, never mind the play-offs, if he'd played there in his last season.

Digby
---------------
Kerslake
Bodin
Calderwood (c)
Taylor
---------------
Hoddle
Summerbee
Horlock
McLoughlin
---------------
Shearer
White

Subs:
Brezovan (GK)
McMahon
Culverhouse
Fjortoft
Allen
