Where have these figures actually come from?

From todays Evening Advert

Wiltshire Police superintendent Gavin Williams told BBC Points West: “This is in line with national agreements. The primary focus is always in relation to the safety of those attending the match. STFC will pay a proportion of that cost (about a third), in this case just over £14,000.”

Interesting so say we only get 5,000 rolling up that's £2.80 a head.

Out of interest who pays the other 2/3 of the cost is it just the local tax payers?

£42k seems a bargain if coppers were being drafted in from Sussex to cover it off.

Nice to see Rovers are offering free travel to those who attended the first game, the shit stirring buggers!

Horlock = rest from police budget. So it comes from the cash you pay on your council tax.

The additional goodwill generated would reap handsome rewards in the future, as now the opposite will happen - fans will either not turn up for the replay or will bear a grudge for the future which will impact negatively.

It'll be forgotten about in two weeks until Reg starts reminiscing in 2067 about the great rip-off of 2016.

The decision is made. People are butt-hurt and need to get over it.

Have I missed something?

There is no recent precedent where a game abandoned in the second half at STFC has led to free tickets second time around and there is no FL obligation to make refunds in these circumstances and yet Power is getting it in the neck, personally, including from magnanimous "fans champions" Bristol Rovers?

Sure I get the points about season ticket holder entitlements (they are being met) and about poor PR, but really Saturday's abandonment is the occupational hazard of fandom and a lot less frustrating than an unnecessarily late pre-match abandonment when fans have travelled the length and breadth of the country.

Yep the infuriated will have found a new saucepan to run around banging by then. I think I can actually make the rearranged game, so something to look forward to.

Power sets himself up to get it in the neck, so only to be expected.

It was surely worth paying on Saturday to watch the Gasheads getting a good drenching.....hopefully Wilts Constabulary bought Boris Johnson's redundant Wasserwerfer 9000's, which Sadiq Khan is flogging off, unused, ready for the replay.

Got to be something expensive in the police arsenal.

Putting emotion aside, my take on it was that it just looked like bad business. Given the ill-will generated, I reckoned £0 income from all the no-shows who would have come if they'd been offered a small incentive loses you more money than a modest discount. Though if Rovers are going to do Power's dirty work for him and fund free transport to the game (a complete write-off for them), then maybe more gasheads will turn up than I was expecting. We'll see.

My fever has died down a bit. I feel it's wrong and I'm part of the majority (for once).

People need to relax and pay up and go or not pay and give it a miss. End of.

I'm still looking forward to Victor Mildews armchair for Saturday and the Bury game.

I suppose it's a good job we've had a half decent start, if we had been shit I dread to think of the shock waves!

This is certified proof that Lee Power is a fucking shyster. No debate here. He's said something and been 100% proved wrong. A large section of our fans will still defend him though. "See no evil, hear no evil".

Embarrassing.

I'm not defending it. There should have been some kind of discount.

However, I'm not going to go giddy with rage over this.
