Would also explain the signing of Reeves perhaps who's naturally a holding midfielder. If Thompson does go for that price that's good business from Power given our situation.
Keeping him on loan for the rest of the season is very canny.

Really disappointed to see Louis go, but that's the club's business model in action.

Great to keep him for the season and the price is pretty good. Sends a great message to the youth team and to young pros looking at us as an option.

I'm still half expecting one of Kasim or Luongo to go by the end of the day.

£600,000 (raising to £1.3 million) and an instant loan back now or a derisory sum at a tribunal in the summer?

I know what I'd rather see.

That is where the 200k for Obika came from then!

Shame to see a Swindon lad leave, good we have him for the rest of the season though. Surprised of the 3 midfielders we have he is the one that has been sold. Imagine what the other 2 must be worth if that's the price for Thompson!

I guess the good thing here for us is that we'll get all of the money for Louis, whereas we'd have to hand over the first 400k to Spurs if Luongo was sold...

That's more than I would have expected for him.

Power proving he won't get shafted in the transfer market.

Yeah, sensible business. Good move for him.

But you always want to see your own grown mature in a town shirt regatdless of all that!

Fantastic we have him back though.

It's great business and a validation of what Power is trying to achieve.  The price is great for a young, relatively inexperienced League 1 midfielder.

I would just have loved to have seen Nathan and Louis become integral parts of our rise back to the Premier League and on to European dominance.

a striker that doesn't score goals!!!!

If the coaching staff work their magic on him as they have with Kasim/Branco/Gladwin then who knows what he is capable of

More importantly

He is the cousin of singer and former Fame Academy contestant Lemar...

Thats next summers concert sorted, bet thats the real reason we have signed him.

Shame about Louis, he'll be a real player. Good fee for a player with one year left. Nice to see a youth product go for such a fee. Obika is a striker, which we need, not the greatest record but still young and played at a higher level recently so I think he'll do OK.

Any news on whether Harley or Ward will leave today?
