Group savers are £20 each including tube in a group of 4 if you split at Didcot. Not bad.

Paddington to Charing Cross (tube) probs a pub around there-spoons around the corner
Charing Cross to Norbiton...fuk nos, footy ground guide has listed a few pubs

If you fancy a few pubes in your pint, head for the Peel near the ground. Personally I'll head into Kingston, a little further away but far better pubs, and only a short bus away.

It's Waterloo, not Charing Cross, where you'll need to catch your train to Norbiton.  Still easy enough.  Just stay on the underground for a couple of stops after Charing Cross.

But as Sutton says, Norbiton is a bit of a pub desert.  Kingston and Surbiton are not far away and both have a many more options.  Surbiton also has the benefit that there are fast trains from Waterloo.

I went to watch AFC Wimbledon beat Gillingham the other weeks there. I thought the Robert Peel was a quality boozer, right up there in terms of high quality entertainment on a par with the Flying Scotsman at Kings Cross. I'm sure most Town fans will be happy with it, although it can get a bit pricey when you're having to stick £1 in to a glass every 3 minutes. Very similar to that one at Wycombe as well. If it was a warm day I'd say Town fans should meet at a pub in Kingston, but as it won't be then we might as well go to the Peel.

Gillingham sold their allocation that day but there seemed to be loads of them in the home end with us and there seemed to be no problems with this. I'd expect we'll sell our allocation as well so that's the option I'm going for.

I didn't even know they had gone on sale until I saw that the official STFC twitter said we had sold 400 by midday so I though I'd better try and get one!

Have no idea why there was such a high demand for them? Should be a great atmosphere though.

At close of play yesterday lad in the ticket office said they had 11 left after my mate managed to scramble the 12th one left at 5.15 so likely they have all gone down...I managed to get down early doors to avoid disappointment but my mate has checked out home end info...they normally sell out, but if get tickets early enough then dont use your swindon postcode as they dont send tickets out to opposing teams area...i suppose if you are one of the London followers that shouldnt be problem.

Hope this helps anyone who didnt get a ticket

Tickets for the home terraces can be bought online through their website as of today.

Got mine sorted without problem but I live in London so not sure if they would block it if you enter a Swindon address. Doesn't say that they would though.

So far as football days on the lash go, this has the potential of Wembley, only without the silent hangers on, and far less potential for utter devastation.

Lets face it mate we both write on a internet forum for a football team, therefore we've already lost our credibility with most of society and besides worse things have been discussed on here.

It sounds like most of us without away tickets are going in the John Smiths stand.  Sure it will be good natured and all, but a designated area for what’s going to be a lot of town fans might be an idea?  Maybe we just all stand in the same part of the stand.  Wimbledon fans seem a friendly bunch, but wouldn’t want to get chucked out if we score after three mins, which we most likely won’t.

Wasn't a problem when I went with a mate to watch Gillingham there. I'd suggest anyone going in the John Smiths stand to get in to the ground 15 minutes before kick off and making your eat down to the other corner of the stand where you come in. That way you'll be stood next to chaps who actually have a ticket in the away end.

I will keep my head down and not celebrate but if stewards start man handling me or mates for no good reason, or anyone else who underservedly ends up being ejected then I will make my feelings known. They could have done more to allocate us a bigger number of briefs. I will hopefully be meeting with like minded when inside (Town fans plotted in Home end). Trip to the Sir Peel pub on the cards before hand though, maybe a sneaky trip to the Scotsman in Kings X after the game back to the hotel. Anyone recommend a decent area to drink in the evening in London? Thinking either Shoreditch or perhaps Camden area!

I think it's a bit rich using the word 'undeservedly' when you're breaking the conditions of entry by going in the home end in the first place. Not that I have a problem with it - I'm thinking of doing it myself, but rules are rules.

Surely its not the first time they've had a problem with away fans buying home tickets which such a small allocation.

Amazed its taken them so long to wake up to it to be honest. It may or may not have something to do with people talking about it on here but you'd think they'd start to wonder before they nearly sold out.

Just had a call from Wimbledon and they are checking delivery addresses.  They have cancelled my order as I couldn't provide a dons supporter number.  I now have transport but no ticket   This league is fucking shit with all the shit away grounds.

Not much chance but if anyone has a spare ticket or finds they can't make it please PM me as I will take it off your hands.

Hi, Womble here in peace.

Just to inform anybody who has obtained tickets for the home sections of the ground. AFC Wimbledon are in the process of going through all telephone orders and anybody who can't prove to be a Wimbledon fan, faces he prospect of having their tickets cancelled.
The club have no obligation to refund any money for said cancelled tickets.

Anyone want to try using my London address and I'll send them on?

Those of you with pink tickets for the away section shouldn't have any problems. The yellow tickets are for the home section of the same terrace. I understand that a number of these yellow tickets purchased by Swindon fans have already been cancelled.

Agree. Shame really for families like Duke's, as I can't see there being any trouble.

I'm prepared to keep quiet but I suppose it depends how many town fans are in the home end. I suspect some will have had one shandy to many, and on seeing that there are quite a few reds in there, may decide to make their prescence known. Would be a shame if it then kicked off with the stewards as seems to happening quite often when town go away these days.

tbh I am reading the bit on the AFCW website to read that they are doing extra checks as part of the online ticket ordering process.  Once the tickets are in your hand I don't see how they can refuse entry unless you make it obvious that you are an STFC fan.  Keep your head down and you will be fine.

For sure I will not be wearing colours but I purchased the tickets on line with an OX post code and they have taken the money and I have the tickets....
From a legal position surely this is a contract agreement. In addition there is no note on the tickets saying that away supporters etc will be refused entry.

Interested on your thoughts here but I am going with mozalini, head down and go into ground.

One problem though could be my 4 year old who has is own Keroooosh song - "Keroosh, Keroosh, Keroosh is "on the" fire"

Is the John Smiths terrace split in two then? My tickets are in the John Smiths but I got them from the CG so must be in the away section.

On a different note, I'm taking my daughter to her first away league match so being a terrace I guess I'll need to get there early to grab a spot at the front. My concern is that recent reports on here from away games suggest we have a slightly 'unsavoury' element who like to get in fights with stewards etc.
My question to the more experienced traveller out there is will it be obvious who I need to avoid??

Duke from a legal POV, even though they may not show on the tickets, it's likely that AFC Wimbledon have there own terms & conditions which will be shown somewhere! And even though it's a contract, a contract can be made voidable pretty much by whatever means

My advice to you is to keep your head down and bring some duc tape for your children haha!

I expect it will be a drab match with very little to get excited about, then a last minute world class strike from Risser in the 96th minute, the 200 STFC fans in the home end go mental, but its too late for the stewards to do anything.  However a first minute goal might give the stewards a clue just how many of us have sneaked in.

Although people may gave purchased a ticket for the game, it is actually an offence which can lead to refusal of entry to the ground for an away fan to knowingly purchase a ticket for a home section of the ground. In such instances AFC Wimbledon are under no obligation to refund any money, and ultimately could lead to arrest and football banning orders being imposed.

Womble...any chance of a heads up on what pubs away fans normally congregate in?and what the Sir Robert Peel is like where a few of us plan on going!

Any help appreciated cheers!

Hi,
Both pubs that are local to the ground, Prince of Wales & Duke of Wellington are pretty unspectacular as pubs go. The Peel, as I'm sure you are aware of, has scantily clad ladies who's clothes magically fall off upon receipt of a pound coin deposited in a jug. Be warned, you do get some right horrors in there from time to time.
My best advice for a pre match beer would be to stop off in Wimbledon or Kingston town centres then get a bus (131), train to Norbiton or a taxi to the ground.

All those in home end, ignore numpties saying you need proof of being a fan. That would mean a neutral may be denied access into the ground. If in big groups just go two at a time, cannot see a problem with people getting in, just keep your head down. Also can Mods not keep this for registered members only?

Not saying you're right or wrong but it just seems like some scaremongering is going on.

I've actually done it before at a Wimbledon game, albeit supporting Southampton when Wimbledon were playing their home games at Palace. Was a bit of a joke as the home sections were pretty much all Southampton and there wasn't much of an attempt to hide it, nor did anyone give a fuck. Bit different though.

So say you're from Oxfordshire/Berkshire/Gloucestershire and say you're part of club 92 and visiting to keep up your membership. Surely you can't refuse someone entry to a ground because they 'have a bit of a funny accent' it just doesn't make sense.

On a more serious note, I hope Wimbledon do not get too heavy handed tomorrow with those of our fans who have tickets in the home end.  Along with Brentford, we have been pretty much the most vociferous supporters of AFCW's position over the years since the Franchise abomination was created in Milton Keynes...so much so that Franchise now rate us as one of their 'rivals' (shudder).

Unless our fans are making trouble, I hope AFCW has the sense to look the other way.  If they have any ambitions to advance in the League while maintaining their current ground capacity, it won't be the last time something like this happens.

Good points but that will depend on the Town fans, lets face it how would we react to away fans in our sections taking the piss....so lets hope the Town fans get to celebrate a few goals but do it in a decent manner.

How old is your daughter? Id stand at the back. If Swindon score and the players score and come over towards you then you'll get crushed at the front. Fighting with stewards only tends to happen in all seater grounds when they try and enforce seating.

Cheers, it's a day out for her 12th birthday - hopefully she'll be tall enough to see ok if we stand at the back.

I once went to Highbury on a Tuesday night to watch Wimbledon as the Wombles were my local team when I first lived in London. Arsenal wouldn't sell us tickets for the away end on the night, so we had to get tickets for the Clock End terrace. The Wimbledon fans were standing adjacent to the Clock End in the corner, so we explained to a copper that we were 'Wimbledon fans' and could we go and join the others as there was ample room. He said something along the lines of: "I couldn't possibly allow you to switch to another part of the ground, but if you were to slip through that gate while my back was turned there'd be nothing I could do." We did that, and Wimbledon went on to win 1-0.

Incidentally (and yes, I am aware this entire anecdote is totally incidental to the thread subject) this was back when the North Bank at Highbury was just a painting of some fans, and we still paid on the night to get in the home end.

Should be a great day out tomorrow, I wish I could make it. Come on you Reds.

", but if you were to slip through that gate while my back was turned there'd be nothing I could do." We did that, and Wimbledon went on to win 1-0.

The Villa fans got moved from the home Stratton Bank to away Stratton Bank terrace in our TV cup game. 0 chance of that happening on Saturday with a sell-out away following.

As long as none of our fans in the home sections start lording it about i'm sure they'll be fine. I'm sure most Wimbledon fans are reasonable souls and will be happy as long as we don't take the piss too much.

Meanwhile i'll be in the away section giving it the big 'un.

Desperate times equals desperate measures:

- A three course carvery including tea and coffee
- Drinks service direct to the tables
- Sky Sports/ ESPN on the high def screen
- A complimentary match programme and team sheet
- A pre-match briefing by Terry Brown

The carvery opens in the back bar at 12 noon.

Cost: £25 (carvery only) or £45 (including a seat ticket for the Paul Strank Stand)

Some of us remember - I certainly do!  One of franchise's early pre-season friendly games was at your place.  You (mostly) were appalled at your club's decision to voluntarily play them and one of your number* stayed up all night making banners ... whilst his wife was due to give birth at any moment!  Whatever happens tomorrow (and a draw is the height of my hopes), I'll always think of that guy.

As for you getting tickets in the home end, it won't be the first time and we've done it ourselves plenty of times when clawing our way back through non-league.  We're a friendly bunch on the whole but, like anyone, don't like our faces rubbed in it by interlopers in our own ends.  In other words, follow the advice above, think how you'd feel with boot on the other foot and all should be fine.  It's a small ground and the view for away fans (and our own in the same terrace) is dire.  You have been warned!

I think that was done by one of the TrustSTFC board members at the time. I know we helped dish out some leaflets against Franchising, and I believe there was a photo taken of one of the banners on top of the bonnet of a Franchise board members car !!

Ha ha that was me. Although I didn't quite abandon the bedside while she was in labour as this makes it sound like, I left missus and nipper sleeping soundly and popped back home, finished off the banners and leaflets, then went back to the hospital later in the morning to bring them home. And then nipped out to drop off the banners and leaflets at the game in the afternoon. Which was a decent excuse to escape from the clutches of her/my parents to the pub as much as anything. Combination of lack of sleep/pure adrenaline and excitement, I was in a total daze all that day.
